CSAC GENERAL MEETING MONDAY May 25 , 2015 7:00 PM- STAFF ROOM

Opening prayer and welcome

Approval of minutes- John Pace and Joanne D'onofrio

Treasurers report- John Guido

-balance in the bank at end of April is $41,000, many expenses to come out in May and June, we should end up with a balance of $3000 to $4000 left in the bank for the end of the year-excursions left to pay, scientists in the school, school initiatives, purchase some of the , equipment that we had planned to

-school raffle made $7800, QSP made $6300, dinner dance made $3300, subway lunch made $5500, pizza lunch made $8500, this is all profit from fundraising activities, Kids Kitchen made about $977 if the first half, about 75% of that for the second half final numbers are not in

-we want to consider to purchase some type of play activities for the kindergarten area, the school is getting quotes and ideas for what to do

Fundraising updates:

1. Dinner dance- made $3200 profit, around 92 people attended, many teachers came out to help the numbers, the parent turn out was very disappointing

2. Fundraising ideas for next year:

- Dina proposed World’s Finest Chocolate fundraiser, possibly over the Thanksgiving weekend, we will get 30 chocolates per case, for a profit of $30 per case, this was voted in with a vote of 14

-John Pace proposed the Entertainment book, he will look into the details and report back next year

- we will bring the subject up again in September for other possible ideas

Hot lunch update for next year:

Food 4 students is the lunch provider for next year, there is an extensive menu to chose from, we will be making a profit of an average of $1 to $1.25 per meal, Alfonso will be at curriculum night with samples to show the sizes for the parents, info will go into the newsletter with all the prices

We need volunteers for SK graduation on June 12 at 9:30 and Grade 8 graduation on June 17 at 7:00 to serve refreshments and cupcakes.

Principals report- Mr Whicher

-welcome to kindergarten is on May 28, welcome will be in the gym and different centers throughout the school and a tour of the kindergarten area

-Technology- 5 netbooks were purchased for the EAs for the special need students

-2 think pads from TD Bank were donated to the board, and the board distributed them to the school

-a technician was in to repair 30 ipads, they were not working or connecting to the internet

-teachers have been asking for additional items, Mr Whicher will see what else he can purchase from the funds left over

-Health and Safety update, one fire drill will be held this week depending on the weather, the heat protocol is in place, and there will be 1 more lockdown before the end of the school year

-ECO school were here to audit the school, we will know shortly how we did, Mr Grossi thinks we may hit gold status

-102 participated at the meet at Centennial, our school finished first, 64 intermediate students went to the regional meet, we came in 4th, 15 students are going to cities are tomorrow along with special olympics, at varsity stadium

-CAT testing is complete, EQAO starts this week and should be completed by this week

-staffing for next year, we have 877 students for next year but this is a moving target, 5 FDK classes, 4 grade 1 , 1-2 split, 4 grade 2, 4 grade 3, 3-4 split, 2 grade 4, 4-5 split, 1 grade 5, 5-6 split, 1 grade 6, 1 grade7, 2 grade 8, extended French 110 applied, 64 were accepted, 2 full 5 grade, 5-6 split, 1 grade 6, 2 grade7, 2 grade 8 as of today, that will most likely change by September

-class lists have been finished, if the child has been in a split class this year, they should not be in a split class next year, class dynamics have to be considered, balance girls and boys, learning styles have to be considered, special education needs,

-Grade 8 graduation June 17 at 7:00 in the school gym, there will be no mass this year, should be done at 8:30, clap out in the morning at 10:30, graduation mass June 16

-sk graduation will be on June 12 changed from June 18

-volunteer appreciation tea will be on June 18 at 1:00 in the gym

-intermediate boys soccer June 2 and girls on June 3 at Richview reservoir

-athletic and virtue awards, June 22, grade 3-7 at 9:30, honor roll assembly on June 23 in the gym 9;30 -confirmation tomorrow night at 7:00

-year end mass June 16 at 9:30

-reports cards on June 23

-last instructional day June 25, June 26 is a PA day
