Danygraig Primary School

DANYGRAIG PRIMARY SCHOOL School Newsletter 2011 Dear Parents/ Guardians, We’ve arrived at Christmas at last, so just a few things to tell you about. We all thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas concerts and party. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement in making them very special occasions for our children. As I mentioned before the concerts, Danygraig’s attainment in this year’s ‘All Wales Core Data’ has been excellent. By the end of Key Stage 2 (The Juniors) the school ranks in first place when compared with similar schools across Wales. I’ll send out fuller details in the New Year with a breakdown of our performance in all the main subjects. It will be pleasant reading and I’m very proud of the children, staff and the community of Danygraig and Port Tennant. The one area that we will have to tighten up on, however, is attendance, and I will have to rely on you, parents and guardians, to help us bring about improvement. The Local Authority and Welsh Government have started a massive campaign on improving attendance and are rigorously scrutinizing all attendance records. I will, of course, be giving more details in January, but expect a severe tightening up on attendance and lateness checks. School Uniform: Our uniforms (sweatshirts and polo-shirts) will soon be available from Tesco to buy on- line. They’ve sent us samples and I can assure you they are of the highest quality. The on-line address is www.tesco.com/clothing. More information for parents will be sent out in the new year. Holiday and New Term dates: The school will close for the festive break, tomorrow, Thursday 22 December – Dydd Iau, 22 Rhagfyr – at normal times (3.20pm for most children). Children return to school on Tuesday 10 January 2012 normal times . School Dinner Money: Dinner money for week commencing the 09.01.2012 will be £7.80 (4 days). Please make cheques payable to City & County of Swansea. Improving our service – Accessibility: If you or any member of your family have any specific needs (for disability or any form of impairment) in getting into the school, or for taking part in any school activity please let the Headteacher know. Also, if you find any difficulty with the information we send you (for example, you might need a larger print, or translations) again, please let us know. We will do everything we can to assist you and to improve our service to you. Confidentiality will be guaranteed, and all requests or suggestions for the improvement of our Service to you will be made a priority for consideration in school planning.

I should like, on behalf of the Staff and Governors of Danygraig Primary School, to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy, peaceful and healthy new year.

Diolch yn fawr iawn, NP Morgan Headteacher
