American Chemical Society (ACS) Scholars Award: American Chemical Society sponsors scholarship programs up to $2,500 for African American, Native American and Hispanic students planning to pursue full-time study in a chemically-related field with outstanding academic records and a desire to pursue a career in the chemical sciences. High school seniors with 3.0 or better G.P.A in chemistry or science, U.S. citizen or a permanent resident, and demonstrate a financial need are encouraged to apply. Asian Pacific State Employees Association (APSEA) Foundation: The APSEA awards several $1,000 educational grants annually. Cover letter and essay involved. Application available from www.apseafoundation.org Application due February 29, 2016

Beale Officer’s Spouses Club will distribute a minimum of $10,000 in scholarships this year to dependents of military members in the area surrounding Beale Air Force Base. Students must be attending higher education in the fall of 2016 to be eligible. Please see scholarship application for additional eligibility requirements. Buick Achievers Scholarship Program: The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program wants to reward students who have succeeded both inside and outside of the classroom—and who may not be able to attend college without financial assistance. It's a reward for what you've made of yourself and the difference you are making for others. The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is offering: Up to $25,000 per year for 100 first-time freshman or existing college students, renewable up to four years and one additional year for those entering a qualified five-year engineering program. Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California Scholarship: Applicants must be of Portuguese descent, have maintained a 3.5 (weighted) GPA, participated in at least three extra-curricular activities and present three letters of recommendation. California Alarm Association Youth Scholarship Program: CAA offers scholarships to children of active duty law enforcement and fire service personnel in the State of California who are graduating from high school in 2016. Awards are based on a combination of academic achievement, national test scores, extracurricular activities and an essay. A 500-100 word essay on “What it means to me to have my parent or guardian involved in securing our community.” Applications can be downloaded at http://www.caaonline.org . Deadline : March 25, 2016.

California Association of Nurseries and Garden Centers (CANERS) Scholarship: Current high school seniors that are entering college in a horticulture-related field in Fall 2016 are eligible for a CANERS Scholarship. Applicants must reside in California and attend a California school. Please submit a completed application, two reference letters and a transcript to be considered. Application available at: http://www.cangc.org/scholarships.html Deadline to apply March 15, 2016 California Farm Bureau Federation Scholarship Foundation: The California Farm Bureau Scholarship Foundation was organized to give aid to students with a desire to pursue a career in the agricultural industry. The scholarships are awarded annually based upon academic achievement, career goals, extracurricular activities, determination, leadership skills, and a commitment to study agriculture. Any undergraduate student entering or attending a four-year accredited college or university in California and pursuing a career in the agricultural industry is eligible. Students must be a resident of the State of California. The awards range from $1,500 to $5,000. Complete applications include high school transcripts and two letters of recommendation. Catching the Dream Native American Scholarship Fund (MESBEC): Eligibility: Applicants must be 1/4 or more degree American Indian, enrolled in a tribe, and plan to attend college full-time. Distinguished Raven FAC Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship is an award presented annually to a qualifying descendent of a Lao or Lao-Hmong individual who served in the Royal Laotian Military or Hmong forces in defense of the Kingdom of Laos between 1960 and 1975. The scholarship is sponsored and administered by the Edgar Allen Poe Literary Society (EAPLS). EAPLS is a non-profit, last-man, veteran organization consisting of Forward Air Controllers (FACs) who lived in Laos, flew under the call sign "Raven" or its predecessor "Butterfly", and supported Laotian and Hmong forces during the Southeast Asia conflict between 1966 and 1973. The award is presented in memory of those Ravens, now deceased, who served and sacrificed that others may be free and prosper. This scholarship is meant to provide educational assistance to the descendants of those who served so ably alongside the Ravens in the defense of their country. This assistance is intended to enable the individual to further their education and to reward the qualities that the Ravens and Laotian forces admire. The funds are provided to assist with tuition, lab fees, books, and other direct educational expenses. Descendants or legal wards of any Lao or Hmong individual who served in the Royal Laotian Military or Hmong forces in defense of the Kingdom of Laos between 1960 and 1975 will be eligible to compete for this scholarship. DNA Day Essay Contest - The DNA Day Essay Contest is available to students in grades 9-12. Students must compose an essay that examines, questions, and reflects on the important concepts of genetics. Essays are expected to contain substantive, well-reasoned arguments indicative of a depth of understanding of the concepts related to the essay questions. Hispanic Heritage Fund – Multiple scholarships open to students of Hispanic heritage who have a minimum 3.0 GPA and plan to enroll full time in an accredited 4-year university in the fall. More information and applications can be found at https://hsf.net/en/scholarships/. Application Deadline: March 30, 2016. Italian Catholic Federation Scholarship: The Federation will award scholarships to high school graduated payable to them upon proof of full-time enrollment, in the first Fall term following the high school graduation, in an accredited university, college, junior college or technical school. Applications are reviewed and judged by the scholarship committee for the selection of scholarship winners. Applications will be judged and evaluated on: scholastic achievement (total cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 and class rank), financial need, leadership role, faculty recommendation and character reference, extracurricular activities and charitable efforts, and family membership/ activities in the I.C.F. Applications must be complete and include the following: a complete transcript, a letter of recommendation from a school official which must also state GPA and class rank, a personal letter of approximately 150 words. Monnot Scholarship Fund - Eligibility criteria: Applicants must be a graduate of a high school located in Yuba or Sutter counties, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0), and provide proof of enrollment in at least twelve (12) academic units per semester. Required application information includes official high school transcripts, enrollment verification, FAFSA, and personal statement. Letters of recommendation and awards certificates are suggested, but not required. Awards committee may hold oral interviews with candidates. Renewable awards range from $100 to $5,000. Application is available in the counseling office – Apply for this!! Deadline: April 1, 2016

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Scholarship – This CTA scholarship is given in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to aid members of ethnic minorities in preparation of teaching related careers in public education. Applicants must be active CTA members, Student CTA or a dependent of a CTA member. For application and information, go to http://www.cta.org/About-CTA/CTA- Foundation/Scholarships/index.aspx. Deadline Feb.19, 2016 Mary M. Aaron Memorial Trust Scholarship – Scholarships will be awarded to any Yuba and Sutter county residents who will be attending college in California, regardless of grades or participation in school activities. The trust is primarily committed to helping students who begin their post-secondary education at Yuba College and then transfer on to other colleges. Going to Yuba…you NEED to apply for this!! Applications are available in the Counseling Office. Deadline to apply: March 16, 2016.

Marysville Unified Teachers’ Association (MUTA) – Please visit http://www.marysvilleteachers.org/scholarship-application.html for more information and applications. The following scholarships will be awarded: * Audrey Johnson Memorial Scholarship: One $1,000 scholarship to a MCAA student * MUTA Scholarships: Three $500 scholarships will be awarded * MUTA Dependent Scholarship: Two $400 scholarships will be awarded to students whose parent/guardian is a member of MUTA. Application deadline April 15, 2016

Nuestro Pelfrey Scholarship – Scholarships will be awarded to seniors who graduated from Nuestro Elementary School, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and can show a demonstrated commitment to the Sutter area community. Students must plan to attend an accredited post-secondary school in the fall and will be required to interview with the Nuestro Pelfrey Scholarship committee. Applications are available in the Counseling Office. Deadline to apply: May 1, 2016. Nutrition, Physical Education and Culinary Arts Scholarships - Undergraduate and graduate scholarships are available for California African-American, American Indian, Alaska Native, Asian American, Pacific Islander or Latino/Hispanic students expressing financial need to study nutrition, physical education or culinary arts in the state of California. Checks will be mailed to the educational institution and are to be used toward tuition and fees. By providing undergraduate and graduate scholarships, CANFIT hopes to encourage more students to consider careers that will improve adolescent nutrition and fitness. Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3 Scholarship Foundation – Open to children (including stepchildren and foster children) of Local 3 members may apply for the scholarships. The parent of the applicant must be a member for at least one year immediately preceding the date of the application. Grandchildren are only eligible to apply if their grandparent (member) is their legal guardian. Children of deceased members are eligible to apply for the scholarships if the parent of the applicant was a member for at least one year immediately preceding the date of death. The following awards will be given: Two $10,000, two $7,500 and two $5,000 academic scholarships and Twenty-five $1,000 merit scholarships. PG&E Better Together STEM Scholarship: Open to students pursuing higher education in the fields of science, technology, engineering or math. Students must plan to enroll fulltime at an accredited 2 or 4 year university or vocational school and live within the PG&E service area. Applications available at http://www.pge.com/brightminds/. Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship Program - The Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship Program focuses on developing talent in the engineering and geosciences field by providing assistance to graduating high school seniors who have expressed an interest in the energy industry and demonstrated an aptitude in mathematics and science. Shell will sponsor up to 20 one-year awards of $2,500 for graduating high school seniors enrolling in engineering or geosciences at universities identified by Shell. Upon successful completion of first year studies and other criteria established by Shell, the recipient may be eligible to receive a four-year renewable award of $5,000 annually. Shire ADHD College Scholarship Program: This $2,000 Scholarship is intended for US citizens accepted to or attending an approved college, university, vocational, or technical school as an undergraduate student that has been diagnosed with ADHD and is under the care of a licensed health care professional for ADHD. Applicants need to submit a complete an application, an essay on “How has ADHD impacted your life?”, a letter of recommendation, and a personal essay explaining how having an ADHD coach will help you transition to higher education. SME Education Foundation Scholarships for Graduating High School Seniors: Various scholarship opportunities available at http://www.smeef.org/scholarships/highschool.asp Numerous scholarships and due dates ** These are kind of random scholarships with pretty specific requirements (i.e., studying if a specific state such as Indiana, etc). Not sure how useful it will be to most of you; however, you never know 

Society of Professional Journalists Essay Scholarship – This scholarship is for all students enrolled in grades 9-12 in U.S. public, private and home schools. Students must submit original work and have a sponsoring teacher sign the contest entry form. The essay should be 300-500 words and must include an entry form. Entries may be typed or handwritten but must be double-spaced. Topic: “Why is it important that we have news media that are independent of the government?” A $5 entry fee is required…hmm? Sutter-Yuba Association of Realtors, Inc., Bill McHugh Sr. Memorial Scholarships - Offered to seniors by the Sutter-Yuba Association of REALTORS: A total of $4,000 will be awarded to students first through third place. The scholarship selection procedures must be explicitly followed and criteria includes: acceptance or eligibility for enrollment in post-secondary institution, indication of potential success in education, evidence of outstanding citizenship and maturity, transcripts and two letters of recommendation. Applications are available in the in the counseling office; Applications must be returned to the counseling office by March 24, 2016. Strongly consider applying for this…just do it!!

The Rideout Health Foundation Scholarship Program – Available to any high school senior or continuing education student with a 3.0 GPA who has been accepted to study a health career curriculum at an accredited college, university or technical school. Applications are available in the Counseling Office or online at http://www.frhg.org/documents/Scholarship-Application-2016.pdf. Deadline to submit: April 8, 2016.

The Robert R. Criddle, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Award – A $500 scholarship will be awarded to one member of the graduating class of 2016 from Marysville Charter Academy, Marysville High School or Camptonville Charter Academy. Applicants must complete a Creative Arts assignment that may include cinematography, photography, videography, painting, drawing, dancing, singing, a musical instrument presentation, theater arts, drama or acting. For eligibility requirements, come by the Counseling Office. Deadline to submit: April 1, 2016. US Bank Scholarship – US Bank is giving away 40 $1,000 scholarships to students who plan to attend an eligible 4-year college or university. To find out if the college/university you plan to attend qualifies, visit the US Bank website, begin the application process, select the state you plan attend college in and use the drop down list to see if your specific university is listed. It appears that most, if not all, CSU/UC schools are eligible. Applications are accepted online only. Don’t know when this is due (can’t find any information) so don’t procrastinate…it looks pretty easy.

US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce – Offering multiple scholarships to students of Asian Pacific Island heritage, a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, beginning full- time study at an accredited post-secondary educational institution in the United States in Fall 2016. Must also be able to attend CelebrAsian Procurement Conference June 1-3 2016 in Atlanta, GA. Applicant must have a 3.3 GPA or higher, demonstrate leadership in extracurricular activities, involvement in community service, and have financial need. Vegetarian Resource Group Scholarships: Due to the generosity of an anonymous donor, The Vegetarian Resource Group each year will award $10,000 in college scholarship money to graduating U.S. high school students who have promoted vegetarianism in their schools and/or communities. Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, or fowl. Two awards of $5,000 each will be given. Entries may only be sent by students graduating from high school in spring 2014. Applicants will be judged on having shown compassion, courage, and a strong commitment to promoting a peaceful world through a vegetarian diet/lifestyle. Payment will be made to the student's college (U.S. based only). Winners of the scholarships give permission to release their names to the media. VFW Scout of the Year – The VFW Scout of the Year Scholarship program provides a $5,000 award to an outstanding scout who is the recipient of a Boy Scout Eagle Award, a Venture Scouting Silver Award or a Sea Scout Quartermaster Award. Voice for Animals High School Essay Contest: You must currently be attending high school or be home schooled and under 19 years of age on the date the contest opens for entries. No exceptions. The contest is open to all eligible students regardless of your nationality or country of residence. All entries from 15-18 years olds must either establish a new project or become involved in an existing project. Your submission will document your project and your contribution to that project and, where possible, show how your project/involvement can reduce animal suffering. Walmart Dependent Scholarship – Applicants must be a US citizen, the dependent of a Walmart employee who has been employed for at least 6 consecutive months as of April 1, 2016 and demonstrate financial need. Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau Fund for Ag Education Scholarship – A minimum $500 scholarship will be awarded to a senior living in either Yuba or Sutter county with an average to above- average GPA who plans to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational/tech school in the fall. Applications are available in the Counseling Office or online at www.ysfarmbureau.com. Deadline: April 15, 2016.
