Risk Management Has Received a Number of Inquires on the LCHD Violations on the Removal

Risk Management has received a number of inquires on the LCHD violations on the removal of rugs, stuffed animals, pillows, and fabric chairs. I contacted the LCHD compliance officers on these write-ups and stressed that some of these items were purchased by the teachers or budget monies and that most of these items are used daily. The main reason these items were addressed in some rooms and not others is the rooms were very cluttered and it becomes a sanitation, safety and indoor air quality issue. These are our recommendations;

 Have your teachers perform a walk-thru of their areas and if they have any of the items addressed above they need to do the following;

1. RUGS = Check for cleanness, if stained have them cleaned. o Remove all items off and away from them weekly to have them vacuumed.

2. STUFFED ANIMALS = Perform an inventory and discard the excess. o Launder the stuffed animals that are kept in the classroom.

3. PILLOWS = Perform an inventory and discard the excess. o Launder the pillows that are kept in the classroom.

4. STUFFED CHAIRS = Perform an inventory and discard the excess. o Launder the outer cover, check the inside shell for stains and odor clean or discard if they cannot be cleaned.

To conclude;

If a classroom has these items in them they need to be picked – up(except the carpet) at the end of the day for cleaning purposes.
