THURSDAY AFTERNOON EXTRA PAID FOR ACTIVITIES LENT 2017

Apart from the ‘paid for’ activities offered below, there are a wide range of other ‘free’ activities offered by Papplewick staff and these are chosen by the boys. There are a range of free activities that cover all interests. Form Teachers and Tutors have helped the boys to select their free activities already. Any paid activities take preference over any free ones that have been chosen.

Afternoon activities take place on Thursday afternoons and as normal there will be two activity slots: Activity One: 2.30pm – 3.30pm and Activity Two: 4.00pm – 5.00pm. It may therefore be possible for your son to take part in two different ‘paid for’ activities if there is sufficient availability. He could also choose a ‘paid for’ activity and a ‘free’ activity or even two ‘free’ activities- the choice is yours.

Once the ‘Paid For’ and ‘Free’ activity lists are completed, they will be displayed on the Activity noticeboards near the foyer in January..

OPTIONAL PAID FOR ACTIVITIES (Please note these are provisional costs) Riding at The Berkshire Riding Centre (Michaelmas, Lent and Summer) £30 per session Beginners and advanced riders welcome. Duration: Activity One (Michaelmas, Lent and Summer) £60 per session Arena Polo at The Royal Berkshire Polo Club Duration: Activity One Boys are entered for the Junior School National Polo Championship Deposit of £500 will normally be required before commencing polo and compete with other schools. (refundable on completion)

Film and Cinema- Led by MN Academy of Film and Theatre The students would get to work both in front and behind the camera, Act Two only. creating a short film that can be shown at the end of each term. Not to be £90 a term missed!

Karate at Papplewick (Michaelmas and Summer £100 per term, Lent £80 per term) (All years) Duration: Activity One or Activity Two

Dry slope skiing in Bracknell Price TBC and dependent on numbers and experience (Open to all but boys going on the ski trip will get preference)

Golf Lessons at Royal Ascot with the club professional. (No Activity One only £10 per session beginners. Must be experienced golfers.)

Summer, Michaelmas and Lent. £10 per session, which includes all Creative photography (Years 6, 7 and 8) materials. Activity Two only.

Beginners/ intermediate Golf at Bird Hills Approximately £12 per hour session- dependent on numbers. (Year 4 and above) Activity Two only.

Shooting Clay Pigeon at Bisley (Years 7 and 8 only) or Air Rifle (Michaelmas, Lent and Summer) £40 per session Shooting (Years 7 and 8 only) Duration: Activity One

Fencing at Papplewick (Michaelmas, Lent and Summer) £15 per session (All years) Duration: Activity One

£10 per session Chess with a former U18 World Champion and UK ranked No.5 Activity One only. Chess Master Note: There will be no evening sessions this term.

Fly Fishing Price dependent on numbers. (Years 6-8) Likely to be around £50 for the term.
