Workshop Information Story Reading and Storytelling Title The objectives of the above workshop are to help participants:  Appreciate the value of reading and storytelling in creating lifelong readers  Understand the role of reading and storytelling in children’s social-emotional Objectives development  Select appropriate and quality children’s literature for reading and storytelling  Be equipped with the skills to effectively read aloud and tell stories to children

Topics to be covered :  Selecting appropriate and quality children’s literature  Story reading and storytelling techniques  Pedagogical approaches to story reading and storytelling in pre-schools Topics covered  Planning and preparing for a read-aloud session  Setting up a conducive environment in preparation for the story reading or storytelling experience  The process of learning to tell a story Participants ECDA-certified Teachers Fee Full Course fee per participant: $166/pax Funding schemes for CPD courses available (Details are explained at the WDA Briefing for Centre Leaders):

1) Through SkillsConnect System (www.skillsconnect.gov.sg) for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PRs) (Centres must have a SkillsConnect account)

Participants are to apply for Training Grants via the SkillsConnect System (www.skillsconnect.gov.sg) within the time-frame stipulated by WDA, failing which they will not receive funding for this course.

2) Productivity & Innovation Credit (PIC)

Eligiblity criteria for PIC: • Businesses that: • Have made qualifying expenditure in any of the six qualifying activities in a YA which are net of government grants; • Are conducting active business operations in Singapore; • [Specifically for PIC Cash Payout] Have made CPF contributions for at least 3 local employees (Singapore citizens or Singapore permanent residents) excluding sole- proprietorships, partners under contract for service and shareholders who are directors of the company. • Centres can claim funding for CPD courses for “Training of employees” as a qualifiying activity

Duration 2 days (9.00 am to 5.00 pm) Lunch is NOT provided. All workshops are highly subsidised and as such, withdrawals will not be allowed once selection is confirmed. Any participant who is unable to attend the workshop at the last minute would need to provide a replacement who is ECDA-certified. 16 Sep, 25 Dates In the event a participant does not turn up for a workshop and there is no valid Sep reason given, the centre will be charged the full fees of the workshop at the non- subsidised rate.
