Electronics Recycling Event Earth Day Electronics Recycling Event Saturday, October 14th 2006 9am – 2pm

Lee’s Summit High School (SE parking lot) 400 SE Blue Parkway (LSHS – “Classic”)

City of Lee’s Summit Chapter of Environmental Excellence, Lee’s Summit High School’s DECA chapter and the Surplus Exchange are partnering to sponsor an electronic device (e-waste) recycling event. Participants are providing citizens and businesses the opportunity to dispose of their unused, obsolete computers, cell phones, television sets, and other electronic devices in a safe and convenient manner.

Fees for Electronics Recycling:

Monitors $ 15.00

Televisions 19. or below $ 15.00

20. or more $ 20.00

Console TV.s $ 30.00

Stereos, small faxs, VCRs & scanners $ 5.00

Desktop printers & large fax machines & scanners $ 10.00

Large printers (i.e. HP 4SI, HP8000 etc) $ 25.00

Computers, keyboards, mice FREE

Personal printers FREE

Cell Phones, pagers FREE Hand held games, CD players FREE

The recycling costs listed above include transportation to the demanufacturing facility and recycling.

WHY RECYCLE E-WASTE: Recycling and reusing electronic equipment reduces the amount of hazardous materials that may enter the environment including lead, mercury and other toxins. Recycling e-waste also reduces the quantities of electronic scrap that will be land filled in our city and region. A typical television or computer contains four to eight pounds of lead. .
