Exmar develops, produces and distributes cutting ring and clamping ring fittings, hose fittings, and high and low-pressure valves. The company has focused on high-quality stainless steels, e.g. 1.4571, from the start. From Germany to the whole world In 1976 the patent for the manufacture of stainless steel fittings expired and Siegfried Gath founded Exmar GmbH in Fauerbach, a small town in Hessen, Germany, where he began to produce stainless steel fittings. The first product was a cutting ring fitting, for which the enterprising Gath rapidly acquired new customers. The name ‘Exmar’, an anagram for ‘Export to the Arabic Region’, exemplifies the firm’s international Visit us: Hall 13, orientation. The petrochemical industry in oil- producing countries continues to have a large Stand L09/M10 demand for the products from Hessen. Soon, other firms in plant engineering, measurement and control technology, shipbuilding and the pharmaceutical and food industries joined the growing circle of Exmar’s satisfied customers. The company expanded rapidly and despite the fact that additional component suppliers were brought in for stainless steel machining, by 1983 more space was needed and Exmar relocated to new facilities in the neighbouring town of Ober- Mörlen. Other products, such as ball valves, were added to the product range and a test lab was built.

However, Exmar’s excellent reputation is not only based on its standard products, but also its first-rate service and customised solutions. When in 1989, for example, a desalination plant was erected in Abu Dhabi, Exmar supplied the piping including unions, wall conduits and shut-off valves made of saltwater-resistant 1.4529 stainless steel. And in 1995 Exmar demonstrated its dedication to service by manufacturing a single union of Hastelloy C4, a highly specialised and expensive stainless steel, for a ship stranded in the French port of Nantes. When in 1995 the parent company Von Roll decided to concentrate on its core business, then managing director Siefert and his associate Bernd Erzigkeit took over Exmar GmbH in the framework of a management buyout (MBO). Products continue to be high-quality and are designed for pressures up to 630 bar. All the relevant certificates, whether Germanischer Lloyd, Lloyd’s Register, Det Norske Veritas, DVGW or others, have been obtained.

Quality and reliability are pivotal Even more competence has flowed into the manufacturing company since it was acquired in 2002 by SERTO Ltd, the Swiss specialist for tube unions. The firm with 28 employees enjoyed an increase in sales of over 20 per cent in 2006, achieving the highest turnover in the company’s history in the order of eight million euros. The products made by the fittings experts are exported to over 25 countries. Among their customers are such reputable firms as Bosch Rexroth, Siemens, Linde, Dornier and many more. Exmar keeps a large inventory on hand and can deliver most articles on request within 24 hours. In conjunction with technical and design support, the specialists in Hessen have earned a reputation for reliability and customer support and enjoy the trust of their customers that goes beyond product quality.
