Stress and the Student

Saturday, April 11th 9 Clock Hours or 1 Quarter Credit

This course will help you better understand the pressures facing kids today. It will cover how stress affects their ability to learn, and what you can do about it in your classroom. We will look at some of the causes of student stress such as generational poverty, family chaos, increasing academic expectations (e.g, the WASL), social demands, and harassment/bullying. Breakout sessions and resource materials will ensure that the methods and strategies are developmentally appropriate for the students you work with pre-K through 12th grade.
