 Entries close on 21 st May 2012.  No refund of entry fees can be claimed under any circumstances.  Entries will not be accepted unless accompanied by the correct fees and all entries must comply with the current NPS, BSPS or other affiliated Society rules where appropriate. It is the exhibitors’ responsibility to familiarise themselves with the various Society/Association rules in operation and entry is only accepted under this condition.  Membership will be suspended immediately if • Cheques made payable to the NPS, NPS Scotland or an NPS Affiliated show are not honoured by the bank • If there is any money owing to the NPS, an NPS Area or an NPS Affiliated show • If any trophies belonging to the NPS or an NPS Area are not returned by the requested date. A surcharge of £10 will be charged if replacement cheques have to be processed.  The Show reserves the right to refuse the entries of any person who has issued dishonoured cheques in this or previous years.  Substitution: No nomination entries accepted and no substitution of animals allowed.  The NPS Scotland Committee reserve the right to refuse an entry without assigning any reason.  Entries sent by Royal Mail recorded or special delivery will NOT be signed for. Should proof of entry receipt be required, please enclose a SAE with entries which will be acknowledged by return.  Absolutely NO ENTRIES will be taken in the office after the closing date of 21st May, but entries can be made on the day of the show following the procedure detailed below: 1. Late entries will be accepted on the day of the Show from 7.00am until 12.00 noon 2. Terms strictly cash or cheque. Cheques will only be accepted with a valid bank card to the value stated on the bank card. 3. All late entries must produce relevant current membership cards and registration details where appropriate for both animals and riders. 4. Late Entry fees will be at the above rates PLUS a £5.00 surcharge.

Affiliations

This Show is affiliated to the Dales Pony Society, Dartmoor Pony Society, British Connemara Pony Society, Exmoor Pony Society, Fell Pony Society, Highland Pony Society, New Forest Pony Breeding and Cattle Society, Shetland Pony Stud- Book Society, Welsh Pony & Cob Society, The Veteran Horse Society and Equifest. If requested, Breed Society cards must be produced in the ring.

Special and Performance rosettes related to these affiliations will be awarded in certain sections provided exhibitors adhere to the rules of the relevant Societies, especially where Society membership is concerned.

Prize Money

Class Prize money will be awarded as follows, and must be collected on the day of the show:  6 or more entries forward in the class on the day and sponsored classes – 1st £10, 2nd £5, 3rd £3  1-5 entries forward in the class on the day (unless class is sponsored) – 1st £10 only  Dressage and Young Handlers. There will be no prize money for these classes.  Rosettes will be awarded 1st – 6th place

 The NPS Scotland website will keep you up to date with any news or amendments. Class sizes after close of entries will go on the website when they are available. Please check on a regular basis – www.npsscotland.co.uk  Exhibitor numbers will NOT be mailed out prior to the show.

Directions/Access to Showground

 Please follow signs to the showground. DO NOT use postcode satellite navigation as it will not take you to the showground.  Gates to the showground will be open at 6.00am.  There is STRICTLY no unauthorised parking within Strathallan Estate and no parking overnight on the showground, particularly overnight from Saturday to Sunday. Local stabling is available (see list at end of schedule).  No pens/corrals allowed.

General Information, Conditions, Rules and Regulations

1. Exhibitors/competitors must make themselves conversant with the General Rules and Regulations printed in the schedule and Exhibitors/Competitors will be assumed to be fully aware of the contents thereof. The NPS qualifying competitions will be judged in accordance with the rules laid down by the respective Societies with which all exhibitors are deemed to be conversant. 2. Any questions arising out of the Show shall be referred to the Conditions for settlement. Anything NOT covered in the Conditions shall be decided by the Objection Committee and Secretary of any Breed Society or Show Society concerned in cases calling for their opinion. 3. Cancellation of classes. The Committee reserves the right to divide or cancel, or to amalgamate classes where necessary. 4. Forfeiture of entry fees and charges. Failure to exhibit any animal entered will entail forfeiture of entry fees and all other charges. Should any class/competition be cancelled because of bad weather or any reason, 50% of entry fees will be returned where a claim is made within four weeks of the date of the show. No other charges can be refunded. 5. Objections. Objections or protests must be made in writing, giving full name and address, within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the first class concerned and lodged within the Show Secretary’s office with the sum of £100. This sum will be returned if the objection is sustained. If the objection is concerned with height, the amount lodged will be the 5 current JMB fee (£600). Prize money received before adjudication or an objection is to be returned to the Show Secretary prior to leaving the showground. If the objection is not sustained, prize money will be forwarded. 6. Judges. The decisions of all Judges are final. The Committee reserves the right to change judges from one event to another or to substitute judges without warning. 7. The Committee reserves the right to reallocate rings as necessary. 8. All Stallions and Colts, TWO years old or over, must be in possession of a current Ministry of Agriculture, NPS or appropriate Breed Society License. For Dales, Exmoor, Highland and Welsh, this rule is extended to THREE years old. Shetland Pony stallions do not need to be licenced. M&M Stallion and Colts, two years old or over, MUST be adequately bitted. For Riding Pony and Hunter Pony Breeding Classes, Stallions and Colts, 2 years old or over, must be suitably bitted in a snaffle type bridle. Handlers of stallions and colts in In-Hand classes must have attained their 14th birthday before 1st January of the current year. 9. Disease. Should any animal be found to be suffering from any contagious or infectious disease, it shall be removed from the Showground immediately at the request of the Committee or Veterinary Surgeon. It is strongly recommended that animals taking part in competition should be vaccinated against Equine Influenza. 10. Veterinary Surgeons will provide cover, but exhibitors are responsible for the payment of the fee charged and this must be paid at the time of treatment. 11. Control. Any animal not sufficiently under control shall be removed from the Showground immediately at the request of a Judge, Steward, Veterinary Surgeon or anyone else in authority. 12. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. 13. Litter. All litter must be placed in the bins provided or taken home. No dung to be left under the ramps of lorries. 14. Misconduct. Anyone reported to be conducting themselves in a disorderly manner will be asked to leave the Showground. 15. Disclaimer for Liability for loss or damage. The Committee and all Show Officials disclaim liability in the following terms: “In this clause the term Exhibitor shall include persons taking part in any competition or display arranged by the Show Committee and the owner of any animal, plant, machinery or other thing involved in any such competition or display or otherwise exhibited on the Showground. Save for death or personal injury caused to any Exhibitor or to his/her servant or agent or to any animal, article, plant, machinery or thing of whatever nature brought to the Showground by the said Exhibitor from whatever cause death, injury, disease, damage or loss arises. (Save for the aforesaid), the Exhibitor shall indemnify the Committee against all claims, damages and expenses whatsoever in any way arising out of the presence of the Exhibitor, his servants, agents, exhibits, vehicles or equipment on the Showground and shall assume full responsibility thereof”. Acceptance of the foregoing conditions shall be a condition of entry. 16. Exhibitors are advised to insure against fire and other appropriate risks not only as regards their own property, but also against any third party claim. 17. Car/Horsebox Parking Conditions. Persons are admitted to the Show Car Parks at their own risk and vehicles and their accessories and contents are admitted to and left in the car parks at the owner’s risk and while every endeavour is taken to ensure the safety thereof, the Committee will not (save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Committee, its servants or agents) be responsible for personal injury (whether fatal or otherwise), loss or damage to property and any other loss, damage, costs and expenses however caused. Drivers of all vehicles MUST comply with the directions of the Committee, its servants, agents and parking attendants. 18. The Committee of NPS Scotland accept no responsibility whatsoever for loss, injury or damage to any person, animal or property on the Showground or the approaches thereto. 19. Health and Safety. Riding hats must be worn to the current safety specification for the relevant classes. Every reasonable precaution to ensure the health and safety of everybody has been taken. For these measures to be effective, everyone must assist in taking reasonable precautions to prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of all the officials and stewards. 20. Timetable. In the event of a clash in the timetable, the Committee is not responsible where an exhibitor misses a class or classes. NO CLASS WILL BE DELAYED FOR ANY EXHIBITOR.

NPS SCOTLAND QUALIFIERS – RULES

1. Ponies may only qualify once for each NPS Scotland Competition Final. 2. All Mountain & Moorland Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective stud book. Part breds and X registered ponies and Eriskays are not eligible. 3. Qualification in the M. & M In Hand Section may go to 3rd in the Championship. All others may go to no lower than 6th place 4. For Novice classes. Ponies must wear a snaffle bridle & must not have won a 1st in an open ridden mixed M. & M. or breed class prior to Jan 1st 2012. Ponies that have won any 4,5,&6 yr old class in the previous year are deemed open ponies and are therefore not eligible for the NPS Scotland Kilmannan Novice Final. An open class is one for Registered Ponies that does not mention Junior, Novice, Intermediate, Lead Rein or 1st Ridden in its description. The description may or may not include the word Open 5. Entry for the Finals can only be made by sending the official card duly signed by the Judge at the time of qualifying with your entry form. 6. The OWNER must be or become a member of NPS Scotland before entering the Finals. 6 7. All ridden ponies must be shown off the lead rein except in the specified Lead Rein Qualifier Class.(selected Shows only) 8. M&M Lead rein ponies mares or geldings 4 yrs and over not exceeding 122cms. Dartmoor Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest, Welsh A and Welsh B. Rider under 9 yrs 9. M&M First ridden ponies, mares or geldings 4 yrs and over not exceeding 128cms. Dartmoor Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest, Welsh A and Welsh B. Rider under 12 yrs 10. Max. Height for HP/RP is 153cm or 15 hh – foal classes excluded 11. Competition Cards will be issued to all NPS Scotland members on receipt of membership, One per pony, if you require more contact the Secretary. This card will be dated and signed by the judge for the relevant competition section you have qualified for. 12. Non Members (of NPS Scotland) may get Competition Cards (No Membership required ) from the NPS Scotland Secretary(SAE), or a few Competition Cards will be available for Non Members at qualifying shows. 13. All signed Competition Cards to be returned with Championship Finals Entries or entries will not be accepted. 14. The Final will take place at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials on Friday 24th August 2012

Equifest Qualifiers This show is affiliated to Equifest, taking place at the East of England Showground on 15 -19 August 2012. The two highest exhibits not already qualified in each affiliated class will qualify.

Mountain and Moorland In Hand Ponies A Special Rosette in each In-Hand Section for the best pony of each breed bred by the exhibitor will be presented. Best M&M In Hand Bred by the Exhibitor will be judged for the Strathblane Trophy.

Qualifying Rounds

NPS Mountain and Moorland Qualifying Rounds: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only ponies owned by adult NPS Full, Life or Standard members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern from 1st-3rd August 2012. The highest placed pony owned by an NPS member in each class will qualify for the final. Where this pony has already qualified the pony standing next in line which is owned by an NPS member and has not already qualified receives the 8 qualification. Qualification may go no lower than 3rd place. Judges and/or stewards will check membership cards prior to presenting the qualifying rosettes and cards. NPS Standard members will be required to upgrade to Full membership to enter the final. NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden Championship - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These ponies, if owned by NPS members, are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show.

NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championships: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Full, Life or Standard member of the NPS. A valid membership card must be in the rider’s/handler’s possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, or the owner’s membership card is not immediately produced, the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show 1st-3rd August 2012.

NPS Show Pony and Show Hunter Pony Qualifying Rounds NPS Show Pony and Show Hunter Pony Qualifying Rounds: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix, International or Sports Pony section of the BRPSB, the GSB, the AHSB, the AASB or in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part-Breds are not eligible unless entered in the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix, International or Sports Pony section of the BRPSB. Ponies must be plaited. Qualifying rounds are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only ponies owned by adult NPS Full, Life or Standard members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern from 1st-3rd August 2012.

The Veteran Horse Showing Ltd Olympia Area Qualifiers are open to both Members and Non Members of the Veteran Horse Showing Society. Please note all competitors should acquaint themselves with the rules of the VHS and they can be found at www.veteran-horse-showing.co.uk. That only Veteran Horse Society Members are eligible to compete in the Regional Championship. Qualification cards will only be given to the first 3 members with the VHS Membership/Horse Registration cards/covering letter from the show office. DRESSAGE ARENA

Classes open to all The dressage classes are open to any competitor. They are a qualifier for the NPS/Fodder Solutions Dressage Championships, but if you do not wish to be entered in the qualifier you can still compete in these classes. Dressage tests can be purchased from British Dressage.

CLASS 81 Prelim 12 Test This is a qualifier for the NPS/Fodder Solutions Dressage championships. NPS/Kilmannan Stud M&M In Hand Silver Medal Rosette Championship (SM-MMIH) A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by the National Pony Society for the best registered pony owned by an NPS member in the M&M In Hand section. The Sponsor’s Rosette is also awarded to the pony receiving the Qualification Card. Qualifiers are entitled to compete in either the NPS / Kilmannan Stud M&M In-Hand Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show in Malvern, or at the Championship Show in Scotland (NPS Scotland Finals at Blair Castle International Horse Trials). Qualifiers may only compete in one Kilmannan final.
