COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS KICKS OFF PACK THE BUS SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE
Communities In Schools of South Central Texas kicked off its annual Pack the Bus school supply drive on Monday, July 1st. CIS provides new school supplies to over a thousand of students throughout the school year. Each year, the demand for this program becomes greater. CIS needs everyone’s help to make sure that every child in our community walks into their classroom prepared and confident.
Items that are most needed include: 1” & 2” binders, large and small backpacks,wide ruled composition books, low-odor dry erase markers,plastic and regular folders with brad and pockets, binder divider tabs,washable markers,highlighters,fiskar scissors, colored (map) pencils,pencil bags (with reinforcements),pencil boxes,watercolors, construction paper and manila paper.
Throughout the month of July the following organizations will collect school supplies at their locations. Broadway Bank (Bulverde location), Broadway Bank (New Braunfels location), Canyon Lake Presbyterian, Century 21 Randall Morris & Assoc., Chase Bank (Hwy 46 location), Children’s Dental Ark, Christ Presbyterian Church, City of Garden Ridge, Edward Jones Investments, Fiesta Lanes, First Commercial Bank (both New Braunfels locations), Grace Memorial Church, GVTC Foundation, Harland Clarke, HD Supply, Hunter Industries, McKenna Children’s Museum, New Braunfels Family YMCA New Braunfels Orthodontics, Oakwood Baptist Church, Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union (I-35 & 1103 location), Reliance Residential Realty, Rush Enterprises, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Sysco and Texas Ski Ranch.
In addition, CIS will have the major Pack the Bus event on August 10th from 8:00am – 6:00pm at area H-E-Bs (Bulverde, both New Braunfels and Schertz locations). School buses will be parked at these locations and CIS staff and board members will be there to take donations and provide program information. Donations collected at these sites will be distributed by CIS to campuses and made available to any student that needs help with school supplies. These supplies are also made available throughout the year as needed.
Communities In Schools of South Central Texas provides comprehensive, campus-based dropout prevention services to at-risk youth from elementary through high school. CIS has on-campus Site Coordinators at twenty-three schools in four school districts including: Comal, New Braunfels, Marion, and Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD. Theses Site Coordinators address the academic, physical and emotional needs of each individual student they serve.
School supplies and donations may also be dropped off at the CIS offices, 161 S Castell Ave. in New Braunfels. For more information call 830-620-4247, ext. 11.
