For General Society, War of 1812, Current New website, Colorado Society, War of 1812 website and newsletter On Friday, September 17, 2010, in Grand Junction, Colorado, State Colorado Society President Garry Brewer presented to State Representative Steve King a Certificate of Appreciation for helping with the founding the Colorado State Society in August of 2010. Representative King personally bought a Colorado Flag which flew over the Colorado State Capital in Denver and presented it to the Colorado Society at its charter presentation. With a crowd of over 125 civic leaders that were gathered together for an monthly leadership meeting, President Brewer made the presentation, and gave a few words on the upcoming 200th Anniversary of the War of 1812 in 2012 and the importantance of this event in our nation's history. An interesting note from the thoughts given at the meeting was the overlooked fact that the National Anthem was penned during the War of 1812. Garry Brewer President Colorado State Society War of 1812
