Creating and Sharing a Document Using NoodleTools WITH GoogleDocs
Step 1:
Sign into www.noodletools.com, create your MLA project, and name it using this format: TOPIC_PERIOD_GROUP LEADER LAST NAME Now select Paper from the top menu bar.
Step 2: Create a document that you will later share with your group for collaboration. Select Create on the left hand menu and from the drop down, then select Document with the blue icon. Once you do this a new tab should open with your blank document ready to begin.
Step 3: Double click the top left title where it now says “Untitled Document”. For this assignment you will name your script using the following format: TOPIC_PERIOD_GROUP LEADER LAST NAME Once you select OK, you should see the document is now titled correctly. To edit, do Step 3 again.
Step 4: Share your document so you can begin working together. To share, select the blue share button at the top right hand corner of the screen.
McKinney2013 Step 5: Then you are going to change who has access to this document. This is not access to your account, don’t worry. Under the option that says Who has access, select Change.
Be sure to also share your resources in NoodleTools with your group members. Do this by selecting add/remove students and typing their username for NoodleTools in the box provided. You will also see that you have shared the GoogleDoc properly from this window. Please also share this with your teachers: ------Step 6: A new box will appear for more sharing settings. Now you are going to select the following: 1) Anyone with the link 2) Access Anyone Can Edit If you wanted to share a document with someone that you just wanted them to read and not be able to edit, you would select “Can view.” “Can Comment” means they would be able to give feedback, but not change the integrity of the document. Select Save once you are finished.
Step 7: Now you are going to share the document. You should see that your settings have changed under “Who Has Access”. Add people, the other Gmail addresses of your group members. If they don’t have a Gmail account, they will need to make one). You can list them with a semi-colon between each address. You will also need to include both emails of your teachers:
------Select the box option to send a copy to yourself as well. Select Share &Save when you have added all your group members. The link at the top is also a link to your document. Remember ANYONE with the link can now edit your document, so keep the link McKinney2013 between the group members and your teachers ONLY. Step 8: Now make sure each group member chooses a different color when adding or editing the document. This way you can see what changes were made and by whom. When you are all on the doc, you will see each of you with a different color cursor with your last name attached to it. This will help you see who is working on what, and when. It will save every few seconds, so don’t worry about saving it on your own. Make a key at the top so that the teacher knows who is what color text. Choose a color that is easy to read- NO YELLOW. Step 9: Now when you access your GoogleDocs you will see your document listed in your drive. You will also have a direct link to your document through NoodleTools “Paper” tab.
Reminders: Students are responsible for good behavior while using their GoogleDocs account; just as they are in a classroom. General school rules for behavior and communications apply. Access to these documents is given for collaboration between students who agree to act in a considerate and responsible manner. Access is a privilege! You must be responsible, act with integrity, and show respect AT ALL TIMES. Failure to do so within your group will result in disciplinary actions. I have read the requirements of the project. I understand what acceptable and appropriate use of my GoogleDocs account looks like and will be a responsible user with good digital citizenship. I know that mis-use of my account will result in disciplinary action. Student Signature______Print Name ______Date______Period_____
