Oregon National Guard Association Board of Directors Meeting Minutes May 20, 2010

Present:

1. Welcome by the new President – Brig Gen Gregg welcomed all members to the meeting.

2. Minute Approval: Meeting was called to order at 5:56 PM in order to have a quorum. The April meeting minutes were approved with a motion by CPT Fay and a second by LTC Snook.

3. Financial Update: COL Janssen reported that as of this date we have over $69,000 in the ORNGA bank account. She passed around the 2010 ORNGA budget sheet which indicated income and expenses so far for the year.

COL Janssen stated we just received the NGAUS Early Bird special rebate which was a little over $1,500. Another check should be coming in June from Benefits Inc. and should be around $12,000 to $15,000.

COL Janssen also reported that the Charitable Education Fund now has its own Board. Benefits Inc takes care of the SSLI and benefits for National Guard members. LTC Garren is heading a committee to review the Bylaws for the consideration at the April 2011 State Conference. If anyone is interested in being a part of this committee, please let her know.

4. Membership Drive: Army membership is at 63%, Air at 99%.

5. Corporate Partners: Capt Choy reported an email with both a Thank You letter and a picture from the conference (of those who had one) were sent to the Corporate Sponsors. She suggested that next year the Association task someone to bring a camera for photos. She also indicated that Dave Quand from Stanley Works wants a tour of the Oregon Military Department. COL Janssen suggested offering this at the November event. Possibly put together an ESGR day sometime in September. Capt Choy and Col Bieniewicz will work together on this. Capt Choy and COL Mouw will be getting together with COL Janssen to discuss the November Corporate Partner event and where it should take place. LTC Snook suggested they contact Mr. Smith at the Evergreen Museum to see if he would donate tickets. If so, we could make him a Corporate Sponsor. Another suggestion came up to have it at the new AASF building here in Salem. COL Janssen indicated she will explore the idea. 6. NGAUS 2010:

a. COL Janssen indicated she needs to get the shirts ordered today. Therefore, she needs to know who all wants one and what sizes.

b. Company Grade Offer for ODP: COL Janssen indicated the need to nominate an Army and Air Company Grade Officer for the ODP. COL Janssen will work with the Army side and Brig Gen Gregg will work with the Air side.

c. Delegate suite: Robin Webb and LTC Snook will be in charge of the Delegate suite this year.

d. States Roll Call: Capt Sutton will work on getting trinkets to throw at the States Roll call.

7. Old Business:

a. Life membership for civilians (MAJ Delint) – Tabled

b. Fund request – COL Janssen passed out a “Request for Funds” form. She asked everyone to review and give comments/feedback at the next meeting.

c. Update on Audit – COL Janssen indicated Rod Ogle and wife have been hired to perform the Association’s audit. They performed one in 2005 and will do 2008 and 2009. As soon as the Audit is complete, she will send out to everyone to review.

8. New Business:

a. Fund Request Form: See number 7-b.

b. Corporate Sponsors: COL Janssen indicated AUSA is looking for the National Guard Association to become a Corporate Sponsor. The cost is only $150. Each year AUSA gives the Association $500 as our Corporate Sponsor. A motion was given by LTC Snook and a second was given by Capt Choy.

9. Next Meeting: It was decided due to calendar conflicts and upcoming Conference to skip the June meeting. Therefore, the next meeting will be held in July at the Denny’s in Wilsonville on the 22nd at 5:30 PM. Meeting adjourned at 7:10 PM.
