□ INTRODUCTION: - Jeju Smart Grid Test-bed is located in Gujwa-eup, Jeju Island. It is Korea’s first Smart Grid Test-bed and run by the Korean government. It seeks to build the world’s best Smart Grid by commercializing Smart Grid technology and accelerating exports.

- 12 consortiums and 167 companies are participating in this endeavor, with $239.5 million coming from the Korean government and $171 million from the private sector. Included in the plans are five major departments, two substations and four distribution lines.

□ CONTENTS: 1. Smart Power Grid: The Smart Power Grid is capable of controlling power facilities by communicating with high-tech home appliances. 2. Smart Renewable: Wind and solar power can be stably fed into the grid and surplus power can be transferred to other areas. 3. Smart Transportation: Charging stations and battery-switching stations will be constructed. Customers can charge their EVs at home. 4. Smart Service: KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation) will develop and operate new domestic- type electricity services such as customized energy information, demand management and RTP.

4 5. Smart Place: Will provide information about electricity prices in real time through smart meters so customers can use appliances during off-peak hours.

4. Transportation Information

5 Arrival After arriving at Incheon International Airport (or Gimpo International Airport), look for (May 8) guides as you exit the gates. They will be at gates A through F holding signs that read “Global Energy Plaza 2012” or “KOTRA.” They will help you locate buses or other means of transportation to your hotel. Pick-up service will only be available for buyers arriving May 8.
