Unit Title/Subject: Dates: Grade: Short i (“Pig in a Wig!”) August 20th-24th, 2011 1st Learning Targets:  I can stretch out sounds to produce a single syllable word.  I can identify verbs and use a verb in a sentence with the correct tense.  I can use the correct punctuation at the end of sentences. This means I know when to use a period, question mark, and exclamation point.  I can spell common word patterns and sight words. Day 2 Instructional Activities: Assessments  Journal- what are your goals for the week? (formative and/or summative):  Read “Pig in a Wig!” and identify, define, and describe the  Reading observation characters (whole group)  Verb activity  Introduce spelling words using the spelling PowerPoint and chant them.  Introduce “short i” sound.  Play short I “I have, who has” game  Introduce verbs  Watch Grammar Rock Verb Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4QEzJe6_ok  Make a list of verbs as a class and post them on the wall
