Student Health Committee Minutes December 7, 2016 12:00pm -12:50pm Royce Conference Room (223)

Members Present: Deirdre Dalsing, Tim Deis, Richard Dhyanchand, Natasha Geyer, Machelle Hefel, Rachel Herman, Colton Lysaker, Damon Quest, Linda Mulroy-Bowden, Jessica Reif, Scott Soja, Stephanie Young

 Minutes of the November 9th, 2016 meeting were reviewed.

 A discussion on the November 9th meeting on the policy of removing garbage cans from the classroom occurred. Rachel shared that the only other UW-system campus that has removed garbage cans from the classroom is UW- Eau Claire. It was agreed upon by the committee that a recommendation that the garbage receptacles be returned the classrooms be sent to Vice Chancellor Rob Cramer.

 Deirdre Dalsing gave the Counseling Services report o Wait times for students seeing a counselor are increasing. This time should decrease next semester as a new counselor will be hired in January. o A Student Needs Assessment has been sent to students on campus. A report should be avialbe at the February meeting.  Rachel Herman gave the Student Health Services Report o Two cases of the mumps have been documented for UWP students. Both individuals had been vaccinated for the mumps. o UW System does not have a source that documents the immunization records of the students. o Cases of strep throat and gastrointestinal diseases seem to be on an uptick on campus. o Flu shots are being offered. 150/500 shots are available.

 Natasha Geyer gave the Services for Students with Disabilities report: o Students who are served by the program are up over 300 individuals. o The program is short staffed and hopes to hire in Janaury.

 Lynda Mulroy-Bowden gave the Residence Life Report: o No issues to report.

 Stephanie Young gave the following Food Service Report: o Increased advertisement will occur for Meatless Mondays for spring semester. o In March programs improving nutrition will be implemented. (Lunch and Learn, Dinner with a Dietician)
