PATEADORES MANAGERS FAQs

What is Cal South and what is SCDSL (Southern California Developmental Soccer League)?

Cal South is the organization that governs all of youth club soccer in Southern California. Player Cards are issued by Cal South, and all Pateadores Club players are registered with Cal South. The information on the Cal South form that parents fill out is uploaded to the Cal South website by the registrar. The Cal South form also serves as a liability waiver, and managers are required to be in possession of this form at all Cal South sanctioned events. www.calsouth.com

SCDSL (Southern California Developmental Soccer League) is the league that Pateadores Club players participate in for regular season League games. More information and league standings are available at www.scdslsoccer.com

Got Soccer is a tool used by tournament directors for seeding teams and managing tournament rosters. Got Soccer is not affiliated with Cal South and information entered on Got Soccer will not show up on Cal South or SCDSL. www.gotsport.com

What does your Registrar do?

Registrars are trained by Cal South to register teams and players, maintain official Cal South rosters and create Cal South Player ID cards. Registrars do not have permission to edit SCDSL or Got Soccer rosters. Registrars are required to verify original birth certificates or passports for all new players to Pateadores. Registrars upload the information from the Cal South forms to maintain player profiles. Registrars process player Release and Transfers, in accordance with SCDSL and Cal South rules, after the player’s parent has initiated a Release and Transfer. http://www.calsouth.com/en/release-transfer/ Registrars do not process reimbursements for tournaments or referee fees. These must be submitted to the Pateadores office at [email protected].

Roster Freeze

Players commit to a Team and Club for the “Season.” The Season is defined as the period from August 1, until after the team has completed State or National Cup. Roster Freeze is the period from August 1 until the Monday after Thanksgiving. During this period, players may not transfer from one Club to another. Once Roster Freeze is over, players may transfer from one Club to another ONLY with the approval of both the releasing Club’s Director of Coaching and the receiving Club’s Director of Coaching. Director’s do not have to approve a transfer. If a team is not competing in State or National Cup, or has been eliminated from the competition, their season is considered over and they are not bound by transfer rules. Players may then move between Clubs without restrictions, following the proper registration procedures.

Upon parent request, players may be released at any time from their Club, but are still bound by the Cal South and SCDSL rules regarding transfers. A release does not imply that a transfer request will be granted.
