2. Catalog Description: General introduction to ethics as it affects decision-making in the business environment. Topics include ethical theory, moral issues, economic justice, capitalism, corporate social responsibility, individual moral decision-making, social & economic policy, and the environment. 4. Learning Outcomes [These outcomes are necessary to enable students to attain the essential knowledge and skills embodied in the program’s educational objectives.]
Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to: Identify basic business ethics that impact the relationship between a business and its competitors, customers, employees, investors, debtors, creditors, and between the business and the government agencies with which it must deal
Distinguish between ethical dilemmas & ethical lapses
Explain sound ethical tactics as part of business planning and decision making
Describe moral issues that arise in various business situations
Demonstrate knowledge of ethical issues related to moral, social, and economic environments

Explain ethical concepts that are relevant for resolving problems Develop reasoning and analytical skills in resolving moral issues
Assess current topics related to ethical issues in the environment, medical, hiring, and government arena

Assessment of student learning outcomes for the course, as required by AP 765, is part of regular curriculum maintenance and/or improvement. The specific plan has been determined by the pertinent faculty involved and is kept on file in the division office.
