Senoia Downtown Development Authority Meeting Minutes – November 10, 2015

Members in attendance – Suzanne Helfman (SH), Crystal Boudreaux (CB), Jennifer Meares (JM), Rachel Wood (RW), Rhonda Moye (RM), Gail Downs (GD), Scott Tigchelaar (ST), City Liaison Jeff Fisher (JF)

 Meeting called to order at 7:02 PM @ Welcome Center

 Approval of October 2015 meeting minutes passed to next meeting as the minutes were not available due to a death of a family member of Gail Noble – these minutes will be presented at the December meeting

 Treasurer’s Report as of November 1, 2015 – Given by CB . Bank of North Georgia – $ 95,488.87 . City Account – $ 1851.43 . Combined Total – $97,340.30

 Light Up Senoia expenses will be paid from the DDA City Account and the LUS account as much as possible

COMMITTEE REPORTS

 Design Committee Update (given by RM)

. Met October 28, 2015 and went over ongoing action points  Tour of Homes final homes on tour were discussed o Met with the homeowners for the Tour of Homes – went well o Charter School Choir to be at the Historical House from 6-7 p.m. o Will need cookies again this year  Walk area by Table Talk is in the works – Bob Fant is planting the trees next week – discussed the Chinese Elm but Bob will get with the design committee – will have grates around the base  Updated committee on bridge and other projects  Giving Tree Project – likely 4-5 trees due to space – will try for 6 – likely December or January project

 Economic Restructuring Committee Update (given by SH)

. Met at regular time . Connectivity with Peachtree City discussed – Jim Quarles is going to address with PTC by end of year . Next meeting will be in November 2016 due to Thanksgiving and Christmas . Have been reaching many of the goals set  Promotion Committee Update (given by GD)

. Met at the regular time . Light Up Senoia o Volunteers will be needed Friday Dec 4 to put up signs etc. o Median will be for golf carts only o Food court will open at 2 p.m. o If weather allows will try to have speakers up for music all day o Parade line up begins at 330 o Santa’s Workshop at Masonic Lodge – Rotary sponsoring o Dusty the Clown is back o Entertainment singers and may have dance troop o No Clydesdales this year o A Christmas Extravaganza – being held by a private merchant at the same time as LUS on a private lot on Main Street – not a DDA event or affiliated with LUS or the DDA – not covered by insurance for the LUS event – will not be promoted by the DDA event  Merchant Subcommittee . Met at quarterly meeting . Trick or Treat on Main Street reviewed – over 1500 attended . Idea to move to Thursday rather than Friday . Most positive comments . Idea to have a little later due to the last 2 hours of sales time . Open House 11/13/15 . Created flyers for merchants to share on social media . Flyer also created for all seasons events . Merchants offering refreshments and promotions being offered . Charter Choir . To come sing on Main Street 12/4/15 from 12-2 – Sandra to help spread word to merchants on social media

NEW BUSINESS

SOUND SYSTEM

 Had the old system checked and is obsolete  Solution would be waterproof speakers on the poles on Main Street  Auction on 18th in Atlanta for sound equipment  Wireless has been found to be unreliable for the cost  Wesley Culpepper has moved to FL – charges $1000 for travel time  Need a production company  Other quote for event $2000 PAC  Wesley to handle LUS and then have to look at ability to have music and events covered downtown

SESQUCENTENNIAL  City agreed to pay Ben Campbell to design 2 looks for logos for the year  Have discussed events for the year – city is funding  January 1 – NY day photo – need bucket tree and photographer – had been an idea to have a town community tailgate – word of mouth – could be on private property if people having alcohol – would also require insurance certificate  Need to coordinate events for the year – gala at the lake – would have good entertainment, band
