Meeting Minutes

Agenda Items:

Approval of Minutes from September General Membership meeting  Motion to approve – Colin Dougherty  Seconded by – Dan Freed  Minutes approved

Softball Report (Megan Wescott)  Evaluations went smoothly with no issues. Big Thanks to Ursinus players and coaches  All Managers are set  Clinics were pushed back due to the blizzard  Scheduling is currently being worked on  Uniforms are ordered  Draft dates are to be determined

Baseball Report (Keith Cadden)  Evaluations went well. Again, big Thanks to Ursinus coaches and players.  Board Members, Commissioners, and the Player Agent worked to place players in Midget A, Midget AA, and the Minors division based on age and skill level.  There will be an email explanation on the way players were placed.  Drafts tentatively scheduled o Minors February 15 o Majors February 21  Coaches Meeting will be February 27 at the Movie Tavern at 8:00 am

Field Maintenance Report (Paul)  Clean Up Days are scheduled for March 5th, 12th, and 19th and are weather pending  Budget was submitted for new items for the field. The Board will go over items to verify everything that was needed was ordered  Porta Pottys will need to be ordered in the near future

Financial Report (Colin Dougherty)  As a League, we are in a good Financial Position

2016 UPLL General Membership Meeting Minutes 1  A lot of Fundraising has already been done due to the Opt-Out of the Raffle. $6800 has already been raised.  Registration money as a whole is down but we are expecting a flurry at the end of February and early March, especially with the T ball and younger kids.  Clinics are behind but numbers are expected to pick up closer to the start dates  Sponsorship money is actually ahead of where we were last year with plenty of opportunity for growth

Registration / Special Events Report (Janie Craig)  693 Registered so far with more expected  Majors are closed at 121  Softball is also maxed out  UPLL Day May 21. The Phillies people have been secured  2016 Calendar is up and on the website

Secretary Report (Ken Shreves)  The Summer League will continue this year. Expansion to different divisions will be discussed at a later date  There will be a designated Trash Schedule for the 2016 Season. Shreves will submit a Proposal to Newlin and Freed by the start of the season.

Vice President Report (Dan Freed)  Website Planning is underway. New to the 2016 Season, there will be a League Schedule and reminders  Batting Cage Sign Ups will go through Keith Cadden just like the 2015 season via Spreadsheet  The Volunteer position of taking over Sponsorships is still available.  Sponsorship was covered in the Financial Report

President Report (Paul Newlin)  All Star Team Fees will be discussed as a Board and are pending  Trophies are going to be new this year and a final decision is yet to be decided  Every player will have an end of the year shirt similar to last year  There will be a “Majors Games” scoreboard and announcing training session to learn how to use the Scoreboard properly  Dick’s Sporting Goods UPLL Day is March 5th! A 20% off everything in the store Coupon will be emailed to everyone by Janie.  SVS on-line store is set up for player gear. Pants, belts, socks. They are working toward getting UPLL gear on there as well

Challenger (Frank DiSanto)  25 Players are signed up so far  There will be Inter-Squad Sunday games on campus and the Snack Stand will be open  Schedule should be available by February 23rd

T Ball Update (Janie Crang / Nick Buchanan)  There are 90 players registered and more are expected

Team Mom Update (Paul Newlin)  There is a Team Mom meeting that is yet to be scheduled

Equipment Update (Bob Swanger)  Baseballs are ordered  There will be one new catchers gear ordered per field  A bolt for the Pitching Machine will need to be ordered as the old one is stripped

2016 UPLL General Membership Meeting Minutes 2 League Safety (Paul Newlin)  Sue will be at the Coaches Meeting to take Background Checks  First Aid training will be done at the coaches meeting

Umpire Update (Paul Newlin)  Jon Wowak will again be the Umpire Coordinator for the 2016 season

Snack Stand Planning (Danielle Folino)  Danielle is looking into possible vendor sponsorships to help alleviate costs for our purchased items  We are starting to buy some things for the upcoming season  There are some new items this season o Healthy Snacks as frozen grapes and trail mix o Meatball Sandwiches  We are looking into being open for practices as an option for extra revenue

CM Tournament (Paul Newlin)  Nothing new at this time

Uniforms (Brent Voynar / Paul Newlin)  New uniforms this year will be the Dry-Fit style  We will be using local colleges of Division 2 and 3 schools for Midget A and AA  Minors will use Major League teams  Majors will use Major College teams like last year  Hats will be UPLL for all Midget and Minors teams
