Officer Candidacy Application

OFFICER CANDIDACY APPLICATION

Potential candidate,

It’s that time of year again! That’s right; it’s time to apply to serve the students of Seattle Pacific as a core officer for the ASSP! We are very excited that you want to take this step into student leadership and hope you are too.

As an ASSP core officer, regardless of your position, your main role is to serve the student body through your leadership. The positions have historically been compensated, but they are volunteer positions. The ASSP core officers are not University employees. Rather, they are executives of the student government, compensated by the student government for their time spent leading the student government. This compensation is subject to annual change, so next year’s figures aren’t necessarily going to mirror those of this year.

Of course we want this election season to be an equitable and enjoyable experience for all the potential candidates. That being said, your official candidacy hinges on the fact that you abide by the campaign guidelines set in place by the Elections Task Force. The link to these guidelines is found on the ASSP Website Applications page under the Elected Positions. After reading these guidelines, please print out the last page, sign it, and include it with your submitted application. These guidelines, which include regulations on emails and posters, among other media, will be explained in detail at the mandatory candidate meeting on Friday, March 8th at 5:00 PM in the Weter 202. Out of consideration for other candidates and the Elections Task Force time, please be prompt.

Your completed application is due in the ASSP Office by 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 7th with your $40.00 deposit (in check, made out to ASSP) and an unofficial web transcript printed from the Banner Information System. The deposit, minus fines collected throughout the campaign, will be returned one week after the general election, contingent on the fact that you comply with all election regulations.

Please review the information in this packet including the election timeline. Campaigning may not begin until March 27th.

Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

Thank you again for stepping up to serve the student body through your leadership!
