Attention parents of 7th-12th grade youth, we are just a few weeks away from the annual Youth Retreat. This is a fabulous community-building experience and is a great way to kick off the new church year. Has your youth registered?

If not, please fill out both the retreat and registration form. Due to the need to coordinate planning with Camp Dark Waters, please fill this out as soon as possible. Return the completed form with a check for $125 to the church office no later than Sunday, September 18th.

Camp Dark Waters is located in Medford, NJ, which is approximately 1.5 hours from Devon. Our tentative schedule is enclosed for your information.

Please take note of the following information:

Logistics:  We have arranged for a bus to take adults and youth to the camp. Please arrive at the church parking lot PROMPTLY at 4:45pm on Friday, September 23rd for check-in and boarding.  Youth should already have had dinner or should bring along food to eat on the bus. We will be providing some healthy snacks, but the youth should also bring their own snacks to share during the retreat.  Under no circumstances should youth drive a car to Camp Dark Waters. For those youth who have an unavoidable Friday evening commitment, there may be transportation available leaving Saturday morning, or parents may drive their kids to the camp.  We will return around 12:00pm on Sunday, September 25th. (The bus will park in the lot near the athletic fields across the street from the church.)

Camp Information:  Emergency numbers: 609-502-5680 (Camp Dark Waters); 610-213-1041 (Peter McDowell)  Supervision consists of Youth Advisors, Youth Activities Committee (YAC) members, and adult chaperones. In addition, the camp has counselors on hand to lead us through team building low ropes, group decision exercises, and to supervise the free time activities.  Camp housing is freestanding cabins separated by gender and age. Bunk Beds with mattresses are provided and bathrooms are located near the cabins. Meals are provided in a central dining hall.  Your child should bring a WARM sleeping bag, a pillow, a towel, clothing, and toiletries (soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, and cup). Clothing should consist of sweatshirt and/or jacket, bathing suit, rain coat/poncho, long pants, shorts, 'T' shirts, PJs, socks, sneakers, and an extra pair of shoes. Musical instruments are welcome.
