Dailard School Foundation Board Meeting Minutes September 9, 2014

The meeting was called to order at 5:37 PM by President, Rebecca Smith

Principal’s Report - Counts: Kinders = 93, 1st = 81, 2nd = 93, 3rd = 89, 4th = 83, 5th = 92 - 1/monthly District Professional Training for every teacher grade levels - School Budget: identical to last year’s numbers - Approved After School Programs: Mad Science, Spanish, (Mondays), Soccer Shots, Woodworking, Heartlight, TGA Golf, Jump Rope, YMCA and Girl Scouts - Guidance Assistant: Looking to hire new one - SSC (School Budget Planning) need 5 new parents. SGT (School Safety) needs 3 parents. Latter can be the same 3 parents from SSC. Sometime this month Principal will provide information in seeking parents.

President Report - Budget - Need to cut down budget to leave 50K in bank for following years. Cutting $49,800 From August budget meeting. Motion to approve new budget: 1st- Cameron 2nd- Lorie - Need to research Building #1’s copier lease and overage amount situation - Pledge Drive - Already @ $650. Flyers in Wednesday folders. Table will be set up at Back 2 School night before and after. - Back 2 School night - Rebecca to speak with slide show presentation - PE Teacher - Tommy just confirmed tonight that he will be our new PE Instructor - Feedback - Board needs to be the cheerleaders of the school being positive about the interactions of the school.

Treasurer’s Report - Currently $109,000 in the bank - Loss from last year was 19K

A&E - 3 new chairs from going to the first A&E Meeting - Auction - October 25, 2014 @ 6pm – Elks Lodge - Approved for $49 to Donationmatch.com for more items - Items are coming in and website is up - Scrip “Dailard Shopping Cards” - Tables set up for Back2School Night - Spent $500 on reloadable cards to sell - Jersey Mikes Nove 11th Week - Ritas Snow Cones - Principal said to go ahead and sell every month or two on Wednesday after school; $3 charge/$1 goes back to Dailard

Communications/Website - Newsletter coming out Sept 24th - Want to change to Paypal - Once a week news pings from Dailard.org to subscribers

Community Liaison - 5 Hospitality chairs to help this year - Possible Coffee Talk or Town Hall meetings to be set up monthly Teacher’s Report - Computer Lab (Betsy) says computers all breaking down and there’s only 23. We need to check with San Diego Foundation as they offer free compuers/equipment to non-profits. - Teachers would like Raz Kids for K-2; First in Math for 2nd, 3rd, and 5th; BrainPop for 4th. - Teachers all voted for Art & Drama in all grades except 1st wants Art only but will concede. Andrea to check with Jr. Theater and Art on the teacher options. Need to lengthen art times.

Visual & Performing Arts - Edudance (5th grade) too expensive $1450 per class. Idea on back burner - Mobile Dairy date has been changed to November 19th (during conference week) - Water Assembly – free assembly regarding water conservation set for 1/15. - Sky Dome Assembly – STEM program about sky constellations. Board liked- Andrea will book this one - Kite Assembly – Construction of kites, history etc…Board liked – Andrea will book this one. - Chinese Lion Dance – Andrea will look into this one to tie into Chinese New year Dance

Action Items - Rebecca - Rebecca making Event List for Beverly to give to teachers - Andrea - Andrea checking on lease issues for Building #1 Copier - Andrea checking on Jr. Theater and Art teacher options - Cameron - Cameron setting up Rita Snowcone dates - Lorie - Lorie to check on price levels for Brain Pop and First in Math

- Karen - Karen to call San Diego Foundation about computer lab needs
