ABSTRACT

Papers must be submitted in PDF format. If, for some reason, it is not possible to submit your paper in PDF format, please use Microsoft Word and we will convert it to PDF format. Please note however that blocking (e.g. placement of graphs and images) can change significantly in Microsoft Word, when the receiving computer has a different default printer. The instructions for preparing your paper, given below, are in the fonts and formats that should be used in your paper. These instructions assume that you will use Microsoft Word to prepare the paper before converting it to a PDF file. If you use a different approach it must look like this template with the same fonts and format including all details described in this template. Failure to comply with these formatting instructions could result in the omission of your paper from the Proceedings.

1 INTRODUCTION

The ISRA 2013 Proceedings will be published on a CD. Your paper submitted in PDF format will be included on the Proceedings CD. CDs of the complete Proceedings will be given to each ISRA 2013 registrant.

The purpose of these instructions is to ensure uniformity in the layout and typography of ISRA 2013 conference papers. The headings and subheadings used in these instructions are in the format required in the preparation of your paper. The type font used here and for the paper is Microsoft Word Arial in 11 point font. Similar sans serif fonts may be used if Arial is not available. ISRA 2013 papers, including the figures, tables and illustrations, should usually be 4 to 9 pages in length, but must not exceed 5 megabytes in size.

The exclusive use of SI units is strongly recommended. The technical program chairs reserve the right to reject any paper based on the final submission, even if the abstract was previously accepted. Note that the final conference program will include only accepted full-length papers (for which a registration fee has been received).

1 2 MANUSCRIPT FORMAT

2.1 Format Styles

We strongly encourage all submitters to use the Microsoft Word Format Styles imbedded in this document. The format styles are summarized in the table below.

Table 1: Summary of fonts and styles to be used

Word Format Item Font Justification Other Style Name Arial 16 pt Title of Paper Title Centred Bold Authors Authors Arial 10 pt Left

Text Normal Arial 11 pt Justified Abstract Heading - Arial 11pt Centred Heading Abstract Bold Full Caps 1st Level Arial 11 pt Heading 1 Left # Heading Heading Bold Full Caps 2nd Level Arial 11 pt Heading 2 Left #.# Heading Heading Bold Table and Figure # Bold, Caption Arial 11 pt Centred Figure Titles following text normal

If you are not using Microsoft Word, the instructions below will provide the required information

2.2 Margin Settings

The paper size in Imperial Units should be 8 ½ by 11 inches (“Letter”). The top margin should be set to 1.0” (2.54 cm) and the bottom to ¾” (1.9 cm). Side margins should be set at 1 inch (2.54 cm). There is a header on the first page to contain the conference description and logo Do not use headers or footers on other pages. Add page numbers centred at the bottom of each page. If it is necessary to use A4 sized paper, set the top margin to at least 2.54 cm, the side margins to 2.20 cm, and the bottom margin to 3.70 cm. Tab stops should be set at 0.25 inches (6 mm).

2.3 Top of first page

At the top of the first page, the following text and logo must be included exactly as in the header of this template:

Toronto, Canada ISRA International Symposium on Room Acoustics 2013 June 9-11 2013

The font type in the header is Arial 10-point regular for the first and third lines and Arial

2 11 point bold for the second line. A similar sans-serif font (e.g., Helvetica) may be used if Arial is not available.

2.4 Title of the Paper

The title of the paper is in Arial 16-point bold. The title must be centred. Capitalize only the first word of the title, e.g. see title on first page of this document.

2.5 Author Information

Author information should be left justified below the title, and is in Arial 10-point type. Include the author's name (first name or initial followed by middle name or initial and last or family name), affiliation and address (city, postal code or equivalent, and country). Do not include personal titles (e.g., Dr., Prof.) with the author names. For multiple authors or group authors with the same affiliation/address, please use the following format:

Name1 (email 1) Name2 (email 2) Affiliation/address1

Name3 (email 3) Affiliation/address 2

If you would like to include author email addresses, please do so in brackets after each name (see the example on the first page of these instructions).

2.6 Headings

Major headings must be left justified in 11-point Arial bold type, in all capital letters and must be labelled numerically: e.g., 1. INTRODUCTION and 2. MODEL DEVELOPMENT. Leave an 11 pt line space below each major heading. Subheadings should be in 11-point Arial bold type, in upper and lower case, and labelled numerically: e.g., 2.1. Application of Fuzzy Relational Methods and 2.2. Value Analysis. Leave an 11 pt line space below subheadings.

2.7 References

The list of references should be labelled numerically in the order they are referred to in the text. Use superscripts in the text to indicate references: e.g., “…acoustic properties can be identified5-8 …” and “… action can be taken as reported by Cooper.3” Use a superscript version of Arial 11 pt. Examples of reference listings are given at the end of this document.

2.8 Figures, Tables and Equations

Include figures and tables within the text if possible. Some examples of tables and figures are shown below, along with their caption formats. Table captions should be centred above tables, and Figure captions should be centred below figures. The table and figure identifiers (e.g. Figure #) should be in bold 11 point Arial font, and the following text in normal 11 point Arial font. Please ensure that text within a graph or image is large enough to be legible, i.e. close to 11 point Arial when possible.

Text inside tables should be centred in the cell, use Arial 11 pt normal. The first row should be Arial 11 pt Bold. The table itself should be centred on the page and sized to be easily read.
