History: Designed by a BMW engineering team led by Dr. Miethe near Prague. The Flugelrad V-1 was built in 1943 and made it's first flight in August/September that year at the Prag/Kbely airfield.
The Idea behind this odd looking aircraft, was the use of deflection of the exhaust gases from a BMW 003 turbojet upwards to make a 12 bladed disc (with a diameter 6 m) spin up to 1,800 r.p.m., Then to simultaneously redirect the exhaust backwards and changing the pitch of the discs blades, thus take off VTO, the plane would then fly like an Autogyro. SPECIAL RULES : All maneuvers /checks flying the TWA 500 are one level easier than standard rules . Due to the extraordinary handling capabilities the COMBAT POINT bonus for maneuvers are as follows : Easy +3 Average + 6 Difficult + 12 for TWA “Saucer special moves” , normal maneuvers give the usual bonus .(Maneuvering as a normal aircraft.) NB! When attempting a “SaucerMove” the difficulty level corresponds to the CON.Check the pilot must make or pass out an equal number of turns as the attempted maneuver points bonus + the number he missed by . The TWA 500 can travel in three speeds ,max.speed using 1/1 fuel cons , 2/3 speed using ½ fuel cons .,and at 1/3 speed using 1/16 fuel cons .(This is also the rate for HOVER fuel cons .)
