Z. 28 Truesdell and Catherine Bethune Truesdell, and her mother 29 descended from the family settled that the town of Bethune; and 30 31 Whereas, she graduated from Bethune High School and attended 32 Columbia College before graduating from Queens College in 33 Charlotte, North Carolina, now Queens University; and 34 35 Whereas, after earning a director of Christian education degree 36 from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia, now 37 Union Presbyterian Seminary, Mrs. Brinson worked with a church 38 in Rome, Georgia; and 39 40 Whereas, she married her beloved husband, the late Fred Augustus 41 Brinson, in 1941 shortly before the infamous attack on the United 42 States military forces stationed at Pearl Harbor. Together they

[4247] 2 1 reared three fine children: Mary Bennett Brinson Blair, Kathryne 2 Bethune Brinson Harwell, and Augustus Truesdell Brinson. They 3 have blessed her with six adoring grandchildren and seven 4 greatgrandchildren; and 5 6 Whereas, Mrs. Brinson taught elementary school many years in 7 Bethune before retiring, and she remained active in the Bethune 8 Woman’s Club and in Bethune Presbyterian Church, where she is 9 still recognized as an elder emeritus; and 10 11 Whereas, her niece is Sarah Truesdell Seastrunk, the wife of the 12 muchappreciated chaplain of the House of Representatives, 13 Reverend Charles Seastrunk; and 14 15 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 16 Representatives are pleased to honor this daughter of South 17 Carolina for her centennial birthday and join with her family and 18 friends in congratulating her on having reached this extraordinary 19 milestone. Now, therefore, 20 21 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 22 23 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 24 by this resolution, congratulate Margaret Truesdell Brinson of 25 Kershaw County on her one hundredth birthday and wish her many 26 years of continued health and happiness. 27 28 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to 29 Margaret Truesdell Brinson. 30 XX 31
