***If you have a swimming pool, enter the total number of gallons that are used to flush it and fill it for one year, under the Total Gallons category. Then divide by 365 for the number to enter under the Gallons/day category. Number people in Water Usage Analysis ______Average gallons of water used per person per day ______Average gallons of water used per person each week. ______Gallons of water used per person per year ______1. Compare the numbers you obtained with the national per person average (106 gal/day). Then compare your numbers with the 13 gallons per day water usage of 2/3 of the global population. 2. Discuss other areas that you use water that are not included in this analysis such as at work (flushing toilets, washing hands, drinking water, eating food at work, eating out, car wash, swimming, showering at the gym or at work, athletic events, etc.....). Estimate how many more gallons you consume per day and compare this to the national average. If it is currently winter, how would watering your lawn, washing your car, kids playing in the sprinklers, watering the garden, etc... during the summer affect the number of gallons that are being used annually. Now how do you compare to the national average?

3. Develop an action plan to reduce your water usage by 10%. Be detailed. Discuss this with an adult in your household.

4. Discuss why there is such a big difference between water usage in the U.S. and the 2/3 of the global population who only use 13 gallons (49 liters) per day? Use the following website to help you with your answer. http://environment.nationalgeographic.com/environment/freshwater/

5. Write a summary of this application.
