Nordic 2013 – General rules Exhibitors from all countries are more than welcome to compete, but it is only pigs owned in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland who can claim the winner-titles.

A team competition will be held between DMK, DMF, SMF, NMK and SMY. The 5 best results will be added up and constitute the result for the country.

General rules:

1. All cavies have to be checked in, sales- and transit animals might be checked. It is not allowed to keep animals in the cars or any other vehicles during the show or bring other animals to the show. 2. Smoking is not allowed indoors. 3. It is not allowed to drink alcohol during the show (between 07.00 and 17.00 Saturday, and from 07.00 until the show is finished Sunday.) 4. Person acting disturbing, denouncing or other way against show rules, can be removed from the show. Entries: 1 It is mandatory to use the Finnish Cavy Club’s entry form when entering purebred cavies or pets to the Nordic. Foreign exhibitors can pay entry fees when checking in. 2 Finnish exhibitors have to pay entries in advance and the receipt has to be attached to the entry form. 3 Any entries after the 23th of August will not be accepted. Every entered cavy has to be paid, even in cases of cancellation. Notice: It is not allowed to show satin cavies in any class or breed or in pet classes! Check in: 1 Every cavy has to be checked in check in. No exceptions are made. Disqualificating faults are: 1. Pregnant or lactating sows, any parasites or mites (for example static, running lice, sellnick etc.), cavies with any symptoms of sickness, open wounds, or other health problems. It is strictly forbidden to take disqualified cavy to the show area! 2. Ringworm: if there are any symptoms of possible ringworm, all cavies of the same owner will be disqualified and removed from the show area.

Age groups and show classes: Cavies entering purebred classes have to be registered in the Finnish Cavy Club or in exhibitors own Cavy Club. Cavies entering pet class don't have to be registered. Babies: at least 2 months but less than 4 months Juniors: at least 4 months but less than 6 months Seniors: at least 6 months but less than 36 months Veterans: at least 36 months Clipped Longhairs have to be at least 6 months old. They are divided into classes depending on breed. The Best-clipped longhair will be prized and it can not compete in the Best in Show finals. Placements 2-3 may be given, depending on the number of entries. Guide standards will be divided into classes depending on breed. The best guide standard will be prized. Placements 2-3 may be given, depending on the number of entries. No certificates are given and they can’t participate to the Best in Show finals. The Guide standard breeds are: Baldwin, CH-teddy, CH-teddy crested, buff agouti, saffron agouti, cream agouti, buff argente, saffron argente, cream argente Non-standards will be divided into classes depending on breed. The best non-standard will be prized. Placements 2-3 can be given, depending on the number of entries. No certificates are given and they can’t participate to the Best in Show. Non-standard breeds are those, which are not mentioned in the end of this document. Breeder’s class: Exhibitor with an official breeder name can show 2-4 cavies, which he/she has bred. Cavies in this group have to be the same breed and smooth coated cavies have to be the same colour or have the same markings. Shown cavies can’t be from the same litter. Maximum amount of prized groups is 5. All cavies have to be shown in purebred classes also. Breeding class: Exhibitor with an official breeder name can show 3-4 animals. They have to be father or mother with 2-3 sons or daughters and offspring can’t be from the same litter. Exhibitor has to own the breeding animal and show it. Offspring also has to be shown but the breeder doesn’t have to own them. The best will be prized. Placements 2-5 can be given, depending on the number on entries. Judging: Exhibitor is responsible for bringing their cavies to the table at the right time without any delay. If the cavy has been called twice and is not on the table quickly, judge can continue and the cavy will not be judged at all and the entry fee is not returned. Purebreds are shown on a "show-board". In pet-classes it is allowed to use a towel or board. Finnish Championship rules: To become a Finnish Champion, a cavy needs 3 certificates from at least 2 different judges. One CC has to be from the Senior Class. If the cavy is already a Champion in any other Nordic country, it will also get the title of FI CH by having one certificate. Registration will be done at the show place and it is exhibitor’s responsibility to apply for it. It is not allowed to use the title FI CH before registration. Pet class: A pedigree is not necessary in this class. Pets are divided in different classes, depending on age and sex. Age groups are the same as with purebreds. Pair class: Exhibitor can entry a pair that competes which group looks the most similar in looks. Entries at the show. Costume competition: Funniest costume is prized. Entries at the show.

Prizing: Purebreds: Only pigs owned in Denmark, Sweden, Norway or Finland can claim the winner-titles - The Best in Show finals separate for juniors and seniors. The winner of the Best in Show senior gets the title NORDM 2013 and the winner of the junior Best in Show gets the title NORDJRM 2013. -The Best of Breeds and the Best of Breed seconds, which are not dependent of sex for juniors and seniors separately. The senior winner of the Best of Breed will get a title NORDV 2013 and the title with junior BOB is NORDJV 2013.

- Certificates, which are given to every cavy, which is worth of championship. - Special notifications to animals, which do not reach the quality of a champion but are very good and a judge wants to reward them. - The favorite of the judge: judge’s personal favorite. - The best non-standard, the best guide standard, the best clipped longhair Pets: - The best pet competition, placements 1-8 depending on the number of entries, will get an “Elite Pet”-card. Three cards entitles to the title “Elite Pet”. - Special Prizes - Special Notifications - The favor of the judge - The best pair, the best costume Standardized breeds in Finnish Cavy Club: Self: PE White, DE White, Cream, Lemon, Buff, Saffron, PE Golden, DE Golden, Red, Chocolate, Beige, Lilac, Grey (=slate), Black Nonself: Dutch, Dalmatian, Roan, Himalayan, Brindle, Tortoiseshell, Tortoiseshell and White, Bicolor, Tricolor, Tan, Fox, Otter, Harlequin, Magpie, Agoutis (silver, lemon, golden, orange, cinnamon), Argentes (silver, lemon, golden, orange, cinnamon, grey golden, grey silver, grey lemon, grey cinnamon, grey orange). Solid agouti and Solid argente, in same colours as Agoutis and Argentes. English Crested, self: Same colours as selfs. English Crested, nonself: Same as nonselfs. American Crested: All standardized colours. American Crested Nonself: Standard Agoutis and Argentes, Tan, Fox, Otter, Roan, Tortoiseshell, Brindle. Abyssinian, Rex, Teddy, Skinny, Alpaca, Peruvian, Texel, Sheltie, Merino, Coronet, Lunkarya Guide Standards: Baldwin, CH-teddy, CH-teddy crested, buff agouti, saffron agouti, cream agouti, buff argente, saffron argente, cream argente Non-Standards: All other varieties not mentioned.
