GENERAL EDUCATION CORE COURSE ASSIGNMENT

NOTE: This is the assignment that all professors teaching a course for consideration in the General Education Course List for TJC will agree upon to teach, assign, assess and document.

I. TITLE & NUMBER OF COURSE: Business and Professional Communication Spch 1321

II. TITLE OF ASSIGNMENT: Team Presentation with Visual Aids

III. GENERAL EDUCATION CORE OBJECTIVES TO BE ASSESSED WITH THIS ASSIGNMENT (List Specific TJC Student Learning Outcomes or SLOs):

CT1: Demonstrate critical thinking ability by effectively researching and applying communication theory in oral and visual assignments.

CS2: Present effective oral presentations utilizing audience analysis, organizational skills, effective delivery, research, and topic analysis.

CS3: Develop and use professional visual aids utilizing appropriate technologies and analysis.

TW1: Identify and participate in conflict styles and resolution strategies used in Team presentations.

TW2: Understand and apply communication skills within a team activity/assignment.

PR1: Understand and apply the importance of ethics in human communication.

IV. DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT (As it would appear in your Syllabus.):

Team Presentation with Visual Aids:

 10 – 20 minutes in length

 Power Point will be used as the Visual Aid requirement  Each Team member must use a minimum of two sources which must be cited within the context of their individual speech

 Overall Team Topic will come from a Problem/Need within a community

 Individual Team members will analyze their specific area of the “problem/need” and present an individual speech on this specific area within the context of the Team presentation.

V. ASSESSMENTS (Includes: How the assignment will be graded [Refer to and include specific rubrics to be used] and how much of the student’s grade will come from this assignment, etc.

**Refer to the Gen. Ed. Rubrics: Critical Thinking 1, Communication Skills 2-3, Teamwork 1 and 2 and Personal Responsibility 1.
