Summer Camps

New Milford Social Services offers scholarships for local summer camps, coordinating local participation with Salvation Army Camp Connri, for a 5- day/4-night overnight camp for children ages 7 - 12, and can include grandchildren being raised by grandparents.

Camp Connri is located in Ashford, CT. It offers a full range of activities such as swimming, boating, archery, team sports, arts and crafts and nature studies. This is a Christian-based camp, but children of all religious backgrounds are welcome. The cost is only $35!

New Milford Social Services will be sending a group to camp from Monday August 13th - Friday, August 17th, and applications are available in our office. Applications should be returned to us ASAP.

Transportation will be provided by our office. Openings are available on a first come, first served basis.

Teen Camp, for kids ages 13 - 15 takes place on Wednesday July 18 – Friday July 20th. The cost is $35 with no transportation provided by Social Services.

Camp Jonathan is a unique day camp for children ages 6 to 12 who have suffered the loss of a significant loved one. It allows children to creatively explore their feelings about death, dying and bereavement in a safe environment. This camp, which is free of charge, is held at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Main St. in New Milford from Monday August 13th through Friday August 17th. United Cerebral Palsy Camp Harkness is an overnight camp offering experiences for children, teens and adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. A full range of activities is offered at this beautiful camp located in CT on Long Island Sound. Scholarships are available. Check the CT Dept. of Developmental Services website, www.ct.gov/dds for other camp opportunities for those with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits their major life activities.

Other Camps: Many other camps, such as The Pratt Center in New Milford, Greenknoll YMCA Camp in Brookfield, Great Hollow Wilderness School in New Fairfield and more, offer independent scholarships. Check with these organizations now, as financial assistance is provided on a first- come first-served basis. MVP-SOS will also provide financial assistance for sports and other camps.
