INTERACTIVE SOCIAL STUDIES NOTEBOOK GUIDELINES

What is the purpose of the ISN? The purpose of the ISN is to enable the student to be a creative, independent thinker and writer. The notebook will be used for class notes and activities in which the student will be asked to express his own ideas and process the information presented in class. The notebook will help organize the content covered in class and will be used as a reference for completing assignments.

What materials are needed? Composition Notebook, Magazines, glue sticks, colored pencils, crayons, erasable pens/pencils.

What will go in the INS? The INS will have class notes, discussion notes, and handouts, and handouts with new information. The student will also organize new information in creative formats, express opinions and feelings and explore new ideas.

How will my INS be graded? Please see the rubric on the next page.

What happens if I am absent? If you are absent, it is your responsibility to obtain the notebook assignments from the interactive Teacher Notebook.
