Responsibilities:  Serve as the Deputy Executive Director for the Michigan Association of School Administrators (MASA). These responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:  Provide leadership in developing and implementing MASA professional development activities, which includes but are not limited to; two annual statewide superintendent conferences, and a wide range of quality and cutting edge programs for aspiring, new and experienced superintendents.  Oversee site selection, program content, and speaker selection, and secure contracts on behalf of organization for conferences and other professional development activities.  Serve as liaison for the MASA with a variety of member workgroups and planning committees, including working with committee chairs to set direction and goals, and program development.  Develop, implement, and nurture annual sponsorship program and sponsors.  Maintain working relationship with Michigan Department of Education, the Governor’s Office, the State Legislature, and other state-wide education organizations and non-profit associations.  Appropriately represent the organization as requested by the Executive Director  Serve as the Executive Director for the Michigan Institute for Educational Management (MIEM). These responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:  Initiate, develop, and evaluate professional development programs for all categories of educational employees including superintendents, other administrators, and all levels of educational support staff  Ensure through effective supervision that day-to-day operations and programs are professionally and efficiently organized and administered; ensure strong communication and coordination among staff; recruit new staff when appropriate  Oversee the organization’s financial operations; develop, manage, and monitor budget; ensure sound financial controls are in place and that funds are spent wisely  Work with MIEM Board and regularly brief the Board on the status of the organization  Seek, develop, implement opportunities which further the mission of MIEM  Maintain working relationships with Michigan Department of Education and other education organizations to further opportunities for MIEM to provide professional development and services  Lead the MIEM staff in the exploration and trial of Research, Development and Innovation activities to meet the future needs of education across the State of Michigan  Other duties as assigned MICHIGAN ASSOCIATION of SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS
