Dear Parents/Guardians of Fourth Grade Students:
The Pleasant Valley Intermediate School will run a winter ski club at Blue Mountain Ski Area for our fourth grade students this school year. The purpose of this letter is to inform you about this club. All club activities will occur after the close of school on the days involved.
The Ski Club will run for six evenings beginning Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Here are the evenings involved:
Tuesday, January 3 Tuesday, January 24 Tuesday, January 10 Tuesday, January 31 Tuesday, January 17 Tuesday, February 7
Please note that if skiing conditions are not proper, a decision to cancel a session will be made by administration by 12:00 noon that day. You will be notified immediately of any cancellations through our Connect Ed phone system and a group email.
This year students will be picked up at Pleasant Valley Elementary at 3:45 p.m. onto Pleasant Valley Intermediate School building next. The bus will travel to the Blue Mountain Ski Area and arrive about 4:30 p.m. at the Valley Lodge at the bottom of Blue Mountain. The bus will leave Blue Mountain at 7:15 p.m. and return to the Pleasant Valley Intermediate School building by 7:30 p.m. Please note these times may change due to bus delays. We are asking that you are patient in picking up your children especially on the first day since they haven’t yet established a routine.
Please understand that all students will be dropped off in the evening at Pleasant Valley Intermediate only.
Parents may pick their children up directly from Blue Mountain. This affords the student more time for actual skiing that night as the lift ticket is good until closing at 10:00 p.m. If parents pick their student up, they must pick them up in person by 6:45 p.m. and sign out the student at the sign-out desk. A written note must be presented to the ski check-in person at their school building during the ski morning check in. Parents are not allowed to ride our school buses to Blue Mountain Ski Area.
The cost for the six-week program is included. Two packages are available from which to choose. All students are required to take lessons regardless of their ability. The program will consist of 6 nights of skiing with lessons.

Please note that students may not transport ski/board equipment to any of the school buildings via their daily school bus. Students are, however, allowed to take duffle bags containing their clothing. Parents must bring ski/board equipment to the school, where it will be stored. We will then transport it to Blue Mountain.
Additionally, the school district’s daytime school insurance does not cover this ski program, only the 24- hour coverage pertains to it. Parents must assure the school district that they have health insurance for their child by filling out the attached form.
Attached is the permission form to return to school. All payment and registration information will be completed online using code http://bit.ly/2d3rBiR. We appreciate your interest in and support for this program. If there are any questions or concerns, please contact me at PVI (570-402-1000 Ext. 3228) or email [email protected].
