United States/World History-Syllabus 2005-2006

SOCIOLOGY-SYLLABUS 2017-2018-ABS HIGH SCHOOL MR. MUNDO Course Expectations: It is essential that you know and understand the material from your textbook, class notes and all information presented to you to be successful in this course. In each Unit, you will take notes, take part in group/cooperative learning activities, complete assignments, take quizzes, tests, CUA’s and do projects. Participation is important.

Grades: The standard grading scale for ABS H.S. will be used. Individual grades will be based on the district grading policy: Common Unit Assessments 65% Teacher Assessments 20% Practice/Homework/Classwork 15% Semester grades consist of 80%-1st Semester Semester Exam 20%

Homework: You will have homework! This includes READING, which is essential to being successful in this course. All late work is worth half credit after the due date. Make up work is YOUR responsibility and you need to talk to me about the timeframe to complete it.

Tests/Re-Takes: We will have tests/quizzes, approximately once or twice a week. We will also have CUA’s which will be at the end of each Unit. There will also be a Research Paper that we will work on weekly in the Labs. We will have re-takes available after every test. You will make test corrections, return the original test, there will be re-teaching/review and then we will schedule a re-take date. Your grade will be the higher score. See me if you miss a test/quiz/CUA so it can be made up as soon as possible.

Class Materials: Textbook(class set in the room), Spiral Notebook, pen, pencil, IPad. All these things need to be with you in class every day, unless I tell you otherwise. IPad rules and regulations will be followed.

Attendance: If you are absent, it is your responsibility to first talk to a classmate about what you may have missed, then approach me to get the make-up work and complete said work. See Student Handbook regarding unexcused absences.

Tardies: See Student Handbook. When the bell rings, you are in the room and in your seat. Be on time!

Hall Passes: No one is allowed to leave class for ANY reason other than an emergency. Go to the restrooms and water fountains and do all other business BEFORE class. This is NOT negotiable.

Keys to success in this class: Be present and on time, pay attention, take notes, read the material given, do homework, participate, be engaged, ask questions and STUDY!

Classroom Rules: 1. Be on time. 2. Be excellent to one another. 3. When I am talking, you are NOT!! 4. If you wish to contribute in class, raise your hand first AND then be recognized. No shouting out! 5. Cell phone put away immediately! 6. Get excited about Sociolgy!

Final Note: When all else fails, consult your Student Handbook. I have a class page for each of my classes. My email is [email protected] and school phone extension is 3342.
