Treasurer's Report Report to be sent later. Director's Report Maggie  In the News  Reviewed Essay newspaper coverage  Correspondence  Correspondence: Note from parent and from  CTF Mary Bowman re: her book, Little Spruce of  HSCB Raspberry Creek.  Fundraising (quilt)  Brochures/posters from CTF were given.  PAM/March Madness (March 19th)  Children’s Health Fair (April 16th)  Pinwheels represent happy childhood-May  Spring Conference 2016 (April 22nd) see pinwheel gardens in our communities.  CTF meeting on April 13; New Kids Count Data book released. Emmet 10th in state for child well-being. Maggie reviewed other important stats. Improvement noted in some areas.  Diaper info: Study from Yale indicating that lack of diapers contributes to maternal depression and anxiety. New initiative from diapers brand Cuties to sell low-cost diapers to nonprofits to distribute to low-income families. More to come on this……….  Prevent Child Abuse America: new informative guidance; Online CE 4/19/16 9- 10:30; register at http://learn.nctsn.org/course/view.php?id=444  PAM conference (Parenting America Michigan) Fall 2016 is 11/18/16 in Lansing and 10/13/16 in Marquette. 2016 PAM packet is available.  Fundraising=Sell those Raffle tickets to support the Child Abuse Council!  Essay-Great turn out at the recognition; Maggie reviewed surveys from 24 teachers who participated. 98 adults and 80 children came to the Awards Ceremony!  March Madness was a success!  HSCB: Megan King (Violence Prevention Efforts-WRC) presented on moving past awareness. The Hunting Ground movie is free and important to watch—free on Netflix and Amazon. Miss Representation also good movie to view. Project Connect was successful. Third Yellow Ribbon campaign coming up; Veterans Support Group meets 8:00 a.m. before HSCB meetings  Health Fair: 10-2 4/16/16  Spring Conference: Dr. Larry Brendtro speaking at HS Performing Arts Center from 4-5 and 6-7 on Thursday, April 21. Reviewed folders with information for attendees. 187 registered as of 4/13/16 and half need CE’s. 86 participants registered for Dr. Brendtro’s break-out session. Speaker info will be on the Child Abuse Council website. Roundtable / Announcements Mary: Youth Mental Health First Aid training is on June 22 from 8:30-4:30 in the Health Dept. classroom. This is a training for adults who work with youth 12-18 who may be experiencing a mental health crisis. Please contact Natalie Kasiborski at 231-347-5144 for more information/registration. Karen: Shared Grand Traverse Pie Company support for child abuse and neglect organizations. Maureen: Early Childhood Networking Night is April 20 (Appropriate Touch); The Bus Stops Here is Sat. April 30. Heather: Newsletter info for Pinwheels; Care Track System uses a bracelet with unique identifier for persons who may wander from safety. Contact Emmet County Sheriff Dept. at 439-8900, or Randy Bricker at 539-8294. for more info Deb: WRC benefit on May 10 at Bay View Country Club; $12 adults; $8-children 6-8; $5-children under 6 Lisa: Welcome to first meeting! Mindy: HS school purchased a robot to link child with classroom while at home recovering from illness. Christine: ACES website has good info including a short (5 min) video on addiction. Kathy: full-time Mental Health Worker in Petoskey Schools (Middle and High School) employed by Alcona Health Center. Worker will see students and provide education to teachers. Kathy motioned to close the meeting and Christine seconded. Adjournment Next meeting: May 5, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. at Health Department of Northwest Michigan.
