Downloading dawsonera eBooks to an Apple iOS device, e.g., iPhone, or iPad

The University Library’s dawsonera eBooks may be downloaded (or loaned) for reading offline or on another device in the .pdf file format. Before you begin: If you have not already done so, you must install the freely available Adobe Reader application from the Apple App Store on to your device. You will also need to have registered for an Adobe ID if you have not got one already, you can do this from: http://www.adobe.com/content/apex/en/home/reg/reg1.html

1. Use the Library Catalogue to search for the dawsonera eBook that you want to read. 2. Having found the record follow the URL link, ‘View electronic version’ and if necessary login with your University username & password.

3. On the eBook web page locate the download icon and click/touch twice 4. Our dawsonera eBooks can be downloaded (or loaned) for between 1-7 days. Please only download the eBook for the number of days that you actually need it for. For example, if you only need the eBook for 1 day, please select 1 day. After this period of time has expired you will no longer be able to read the book unless you download it again. Having chosen the length of the download (loan), click/touch the download button.

5. A pop-up box will notify you that the download will begin shortly and confirming how long the download (loan) will extend for. To begin the download process you must click/touch the link, “For iPhone and iPad users click here to download”.

6. Once the download process has completed, click/touch the ‘Open in Adobe Reader’ button that appears in the screen. 7. A digital rights management (DRM) statement will now appear in the Adobe Reader app, click/touch the ‘open’ button to read the eBook.
