Summary

The GreenACCESS system is a revolutionary, energy independent, wireless and RFID secured locking system, which is able to generate and store its own power thus reducing maintenance costs and carbon emissions.

The GreenACCESS lock was designed form HORATIO GmbH between 2008 and 2010 as part of the national German innovation R & D program.

An intelligent electronic locking system such as GreenACCESS removes difficulties that have traditional mechanical locks and provides a customisable, secure and flexible alternative as the lock can be re-programmed to accept personal tags allowing access to authorised personnel.

The GreenACCESS system generates its own power via ‘energy harvesting’ as the door handle is operated. With this power the RFID-tag is identified and the door unlocked. Identification information relating to people entering through the door can also be sent wirelessly providing a host of possible applications. The fact that the lock is energy independent represents a significant resource and carbon saving: Combined it is estimated that these features could represent a 95% C02 energy saving over a period of 20 years in comparison to other mechanical locks.

(4) The suppliers for access controls and doors within the EU are divided in nations and regions. This branch is dominated in the mass market by few providers. With our innovative idea and compact product GreenACCESS, we have the change to open the market and make also other supplier livelier. The result will be more products, more jobs and more suitable solutions for different users.

(5) In comparison with nowadays conventional access control products we eliminate existing batteries. For this reason our GreenACCESS solution presents the best in the waste hierarchy, because the production and waste from these batteries is completely avoided.
