AP French Language Syllabus

I. Course Objectives - The students will develop the ability to 1), understand spoken French in a variety of contexts; 2), read French language texts including newspapers, magazines and literary texts without the need for a dictionary; and 3), speak and write in French with reasonable fluency.

II. Methodology – There are four areas of study which compose a comprehensive approach to beginning literacy in French as a foreign language: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Proficiency in these areas is achieved in a variety of ways including audio, video, conversational and printed media. Specific course requirements are organized into these four areas. Each area meets specific course requirements for which examples and evidence will be provided.

III. Requirements – The following diagram contains 3 columns. The first defines the course requirements for AP French Language; the second shows which of the four skills are met within this area; and the third provides evidence of the teaching resources used to instruct students in those areas.
