Dear Parent / Carer

I would like to invite you to the Year 9 Options Evening which takes place on Monday 5th December 2016 from 4.00pm until 6.30pm. This evening is the crucial next step in your child making decisions about the GCSE and BTEC courses that they wish to study in Years 10 and 11.

Options Evening is separated into two parts: a presentation from Mr Hulse, Mr Legood and myself about ‘Options Choices’, ‘Key Stage 4’, and ‘Post-16 Education’. It is also an opportunity for you to talk to subject teachers about the structure and assessment of the various Key Stage 4 Options courses. The presentation will run twice during the evening.

Over the past 3 weeks, Subject Leaders have been introducing the BTEC and GCSE courses offered by their Faculties in assemblies. Your child has also been working with their Form Tutor on options related activities since returning to school in September. I do hope that Options Evening will provide you with the necessary information and advice to help your child to make an informed decision about their choice of options prior to the deadline on December 14th 2016. Please find enclosed a copy of the Options Booklet with all the information that will help you to make accurate choices. You will find it useful to bring this booklet with you on 5th December.

On Tuesday 13th June 2017 you will also be invited to attend a Parents’ Evening for the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science in order to review your child’s progress.

Please note that due to the construction of the new school building there will be no car parking facilities on the school site. All visitors will therefore need to park on the pay and display car park opposite the school.
