Gordon Terrace Elementary School Parent Advisory Council (PAC) Minutes for Gordon Terrace PAC March 7, 2016 Called to order: 3:15pm

Members in Attendance: Amie Bowden, Chairperson Charlene Peterson Trina Constable Johanna Popoff, Teacher Rep Christy Bevans Julie Botterill David Doll, VP Sylene Cloarec

Activity:

Overview and Approval of Agenda: approved.

Treasurer Report:

Gaming Account: $11 058.10 General Account: $13 922.69

Hot lunch numbers were down at 195 vs 238.

DPAC Report: Will be sent under separate cover.

School Trustee Report: Gail will return as our Trustee. Thanks to Doug for his efforts.

Hot Lunch: Upcoming hot lunch dates: April 8, 15, 22

New and Ongoing updates on topics and discussions:

ONGOING:

Playground ACTION: Melissa Bouzaara to update

T-shirts for School Spirit UPDATE: $5.85 per shirt, grey with logo. Do we charge? Can t-shirt be part of welcome package for Kinders in September? ACTION: make final decision on T-shirts What is our role as PAC? Initiatives: Gather information from Teachers Letter sent to teachers asking what their expectations are of PAC. How we can support them both financially and also in the classroom? ACTION: Teachers have received letter and results are starting to come in.

Meet with other PAC’s What is working for other PAC’s. ACTION: Speak with Julie to have added to DPAC agenda. Send email to PAC presidents to have their DPAC rep to bring to next meeting completed. Amie to email to PAC presidents.

ACTIONs: -Based on the results from the above, consolidate information, forecast and create goals for 2016/2017. -determine subcommittee to compile and present for approval at May meeting. -Present to final teacher/staff meeting in June. Also add to agenda importance of hot lunch as a fund raiser and that we need their participation.

Fund Raising Committee- Bingo Night was approved. Will be held April 28th. -one main prize of bike for bingo winners -raffle baskets – tickets to be purchased -pizza will be available for pre-order and a small concession with water, cookies and popcorn -tables and chairs have been ordered by Michelle

Still to do: organize caller Where are bingo cards? Are there enough pasta bags Assemble raffle baskets Assign concession workers Create task list of what needs to be done and assess if a final planning meeting is required

Meat Raffle: Price of meat has gone up, therefore this raffle will be replaced with a Spring Raffle. $500 Visa card and an Ipad. Raffle date – May 5th Tickets need to be printed and sent out by Mid-April. Student prizes: name in draw for each book of tickets sold – bike Top selling student: movie passes Winning ticket seller: movie passes Novalee is organizing.

Family Math night: no update

June track meet at COTR- Ran out of time. ACTION: Please add to April Agenda

FUTURE ACTION ITEMS:

PAC Table on Parent/Teacher Interview days Interview week feedback: Most don’t want to write a cheque Hot lunch changes, more often, more choices Milk Program Bingo night is good Maybe a family movie night Munch a lunch- online hot lunch program ACTION: No Action required until June. Address at end of year/June meeting to be prepared for September

PAC orientation for new students and parents of GT - Develop better welcome package for Kinder and info ready for first day of school. - Info sheet on Kindergarten orientation. ACTION: No Action required until April. Develop above pieces. Not yet assigned.
