(4) If you had a chance to visit the rain forest where would you go? (Answer) Any logical answer. (Follow Up) Have you ever visited anywhere outside the United States?
(5) Define the word “ spy.” (Answer) To see something. (Follow Up) Do you know how to play the game “ I spy?”
(6) Recall the insect that is blue. (Answer) Snout beetle. (Follow Up) Explain why you think it’s called a snout beetle.
(7) Compare the snake and the frog and tell me what is similar between them. (Answer) They are both yellow. (Follow Up) Describe the differences in a frog and a toad.
(8) Look on page 9 and tell what animal is shown here. (Answer) A spectacled caiman crocodile. (Follow Up) Can you think of another animal that looks like a crocodile?
(9) Recall the name of the brown monkey. (Answer) Orangutan. (Follow Up) Where else would you find monkeys?
(10) List as many ( in order) that you can remember from the book. (Answer) Snout beetle;, macaw, gladiator frog, tree boa, panther, chameleon, caterpillar, map turtle, caiman crocodile, gloden tamarin, butterfly, bat, orangutan and rainbow lorikeet. (Follow Up) Name another animal that might be found in the rain forest. Activities
1. Draw your own rain forest and label all the animals that are in it.
2. Make a “ save the rain forest” poster.
3. Write a short story telling why it is important to protect the rain forest.
4. Pretend you are a professional photographer. Where would you like to travel to and what would you take pictures of?
Introductions
1. Bring pictures of animals that are rare and some that are common. Ask the student what are the differences in these animals. Today our story is about some rare animals in the rain forest.
2. Have a picture of the rain forest or jungle. Ask the student if they know anything about the rain forest. Let’s read about some of the animals that live in the rain forest.
3. Have a world map or globe. Ask the students if they know what part of the world the rain forest is in.
