F. King Alexander President, California State University, Long Beach

Dr. F. King Alexander was named the sixth President of California State University, Long Beach in November, 2005 after serving as the President of Murray State University in Kentucky from 2001-2005. He is a well respected national expert in domestic and international higher education finance and public policy. He also serves as a faculty affiliate at Cornell University’s prestigious Higher Education Research Institute (CHERI). He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Higher Education Finance and Public Policy, a Master’s of Science degree from Oxford University (England) in Comparative Education Policy, and his undergraduate degree in Political Science from St. Lawrence University in New York.

David J. Arsenault Vice President, Hyundai Merchant Marine

David Arsenault is Vice President & Regional Manager for Hyundai Merchant Marine responsible for the sales organization in the PSW & Gulf Regions of the USA. A graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York, David obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nautical Science and Marine Transportation and a 3rd Mates License as a Merchant Marine Officer for vessels of unlimited tonnage on any ocean in addition to serving as a U.S. Naval Reserve Officer for twelve years.

Mr. Arsenault has been in the industry for over 23 years having served as Assistant Academic Dean at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy before joining Sea-Land. During his 13 years at Sea-Land he held various management positions of increased management responsibility in operations, sales, trade and logistics including 5 years in Asia where he served as Country Manager in both Thailand and later Taiwan. Following the acquisition of Sea-Land by Maersk in 1999, he transitioned over to the supply chain management side of the business where he played an instrumental role in the integration of Buyers Consolidators with Mercantile to create Maersk Logistics. This 3PL experience highlighted the critical role that technology plays in supply chain visibility, planning and execution which lead to him joining GT Nexus where he was involved in integrating ocean carriers to the portal and establishing the business processes to support the e-Business platform. Most recently, Mr. Arsenault was Senior VP of Sales & Marketing at Globe Wireless, where he was responsible for the global sales and marketing organization of this leading maritime communications and technology company prior to joining Hyundai Merchant Marine in 2004.

Paul Bingham Managing Director, Global Trade and Transportation, IHS Global Insight

Mr. Bingham is a Managing Director at IHS Global Insight overseeing the company's

A international transportation analysis. He manages consulting and forecast products for the company's Global Trade and Transportation Practice. He has management responsibility for the World Trade Service, which provides regularly updated detailed trade forecasts. He is editor of Port Tracker, produced in cooperation with the Strategic Supply Chain Council of the National Retail Federation, monitoring and forecasting North American port and intermodal conditions.

Previously, Mr. Bingham held freight, analytical and management positions with Booz Allen Hamilton's Commercial Freight Transportation Consulting Practice and the Transportation Consulting Practice at ICF Kaiser International. He began his career 25 years ago with DRI's International Trade Group where he was responsible for consulting and client applications of DRI/Mercer Management Consulting’s World Sea Trade Service models and data.

Mr. Bingham is Freight Systems Group Chair of the Transportation Research Board (TRB). He is a member of the TRB Trucking Industry Research Committee and past Secretary of the TRB International Trade and Transportation Committee. He is past Chair of the TRB Freight Transportation Data Committee. He serves on the board of the International Trade Data Users group and the National Council of the Transportation Research Forum.

Genevieve Giuliano Professor and Senior Associate Dean of Research and Technology, School of Policy, Planning, and Development, USC Director, METRANS Transportation Center

Dr. Genevieve Giuliano is Professor and Senior Associate Dean of Research and Technology in the School of Policy, Planning, and Development, University of Southern California, and Director of the METRANS joint USC and California State University, Long Beach Transportation Center. She also holds courtesy appointments in Civil Engineering and Geography.

Professor Giuliano's research focus areas include relationships between land use and transportation, transportation policy analysis, and information technology applications in transportation. She has published over 130 papers, and has presented her research at numerous conferences both within the US and abroad.

Professor Giuliano serves on the Editorial Boards of Urban Studies and Journal of Transport Policy. She is a member and past Chair of the Executive Committee of the Transportation Research Board, and has been named a National Associate of the National Academy of Sciences. She is the recipient of the TRB Distinguished Service Award (2006) and the 2007 Thomas B. Deen Distinguished Lectureship Award. She has participated in several National Research Council policy studies; currently she chairs the Committee on Financing Options for Freight Transportation Projects of National Significance, and is a member of the Panel on Mitigation of the National Academies of

A Sciences’ America’s Climate Challenge study. She also serves as Chair of the California Transportation Research and Technology Advisory Panel.

Joseph P. Magaddino Chair and Professor of Economics, California State University, Long Beach

Dr. Joseph Magaddino is Chair and Professor of Economics as well as a senior researcher with the Economic Forecast Project at California State University, Long Beach. He also is Director of the Master of Arts in Global Logistics (MAGL) program. Dr. Magaddino serves on the executive committee of METRANS, a Department of Transportation Research Center and as a director of the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Magaddino received his doctorate at Virginia Tech. As a senior research economist with the Economic Forecast Project, he specializes in the study of city and sub-county economies. He and his colleagues have provided annual economic forecasts of the regional economy as well as for the City of Long Beach, City of Santa Monica, and the South Bay. He has served as a consultant to a number of private and public enterprises.

Alan McCorkle Senior Vice President, APM Terminals Pacific, Ltd.

Alan McCorkle was named Senior Vice President of APM Terminals Pacific, Ltd. in 2004 and reports to the President of APM Terminals NA, Inc., the largest terminal operator in the United States. In this capacity, Alan is responsible for APM Terminals activity at Pier 400 in Los Angeles, California and in Oakland, California.

Alan joined the Maersk Inc. group of companies in 1990 in New Jersey and has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility in managing the company's operations at each of its West Coast terminals. He was responsible for the development of the Pier 400 facility in Los Angeles, the largest privately held container terminal in the world. He became its Managing Director when the facility opened in 2002.

Subsequently, Alan assumed the role of General Manager, APM Terminals (Jamaica) Ltd., where he was responsible for the management of all port operations in Jamaica and served in that capacity until his current appointment.

Alan holds a B.S. in Business Management from Clemson University and is a graduate of the Executive Development Program at Cornell University. He has represented

A the company on several industry boards, including the Steamship Association of Southern California and the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association of Southern California. Additionally, he has served on both the Southern California and West Coast Steering Committees of the Pacific Maritime Association.

Daniel Meylor Customs Administration Manager, Carmichael International Service

Dan Meylor began his career in 1971 as a messenger at Los Angeles International Airport. He joined Carmichael International Service in 1996 as the branch manager of their Los Angeles Airport office. He is now the Customs Administration Manager for Carmichael.

Dan is active in the trade community. He is currently the President of the Los Angeles Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association. Dan is also the Chairman the Pacific Coast Council of Brokers and Forwarders Import Committee and a member of the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America By-Laws Committee and Carrier’s Best Practices Committee. He is also an active member of several other trade organizations, both local and national.

Domenick Miretti ILWU Senior Liaison, Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach

Dr. Domenick Miretti is a member of the International Longshore & Warehouse Union, Local 63, Marine Clerks Association. He has been a member of the ILWU for 58 years. He serves the union as senior liaison to the ports of San Pedro Bay and holds membership on numerous maritime committees. He previously served on then State Senator Betty Karnette’s Maritime Advisory Committee, the Los Angeles/Long Beach Harbor Safety Committee, the Port Security Task Force, and the initial Planning Committee for the ports’ 20-20 Plan.

In addition to his union duties, he is an educator, professor, and director of the International Commerce and Career Center at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park. He is a member of the METRANS Advisory Committee and serves on the Executive Board of the Policy and Steering Committee of the Center for International Trade and Transportation (CITT) at California State University, Long Beach.

Scott Moore Vice President Public Affairs – West, Union Pacific Railroad

A native of rural Nebraska, Scott Moore is a 1983 Graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a BA in Political Science. After being elected as a member of Nebraska’s Unicameral Legislature in 1986, Scott served for eight years as a State

A Senator from the 24th Legislative district. In 1994, Scott was Elected Statewide as Nebraska’s Secretary of State and was re-elected in 1998.

In 2000, Scott exited Nebraska State Government when he joined Union Pacific Railroad as Director-Government Affairs. In this capacity, he oversaw the State and Local Government Affairs efforts of the Railroad in the Western 13 States of Union Pacific’s 23 State system.

Union Pacific named Scott to the position of Assistant Vice President & General Manager – Public Partnerships in April 2004. In this role, Moore was responsible, system wide, for the management of Union Pacific’s relationships with the many agencies, usually governmental, that partner with the railroad to solve communities’ transportation needs.

Patty Senecal Director, California Government Affairs, International Warehouse Logistics Association

Since April of 2007, Patty Senecal has been contracted by the International Warehouse Logistics Association (IWLA) as Director, California Government Affairs. The IWLA is the unified voice of the value-added warehouse logistics industry, representing third- party warehouse logistics providers and intermodal warehouse operations.

Ms. Senecal was formerly the Vice President at Transport Express, Inc. She has 25 years of supply chain operational experience for duty-paid, in-bond and domestic trucking, warehousing, and distribution. She is a frequent lecturer and industry representative for academic, press, media, and government agencies regarding warehousing, distribution intermodal trucking operations, and goods movement business and environmental regulations issues. She does consulting work for public and public and private parties in the area of goods movement for distribution and trucking. She is utilized as an expert witness and consultant regarding intermodal trucking, warehouse operations, and industry practices.

Ms. Senecal holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from California State University of Fullerton.

Marianne Venieris Executive Director, Center for International Trade and Transportation (CITT), CSULB, Deputy Director, METRANS Transportation Center

In a partnership with the international trade logistics industry, Ms. Venieris develops, administers, and markets graduate level and professional development training programs, certificates, professional designations, and manages technology transfer and outreach activities. She is responsible for the establishment of CITT; and under her

A leadership, CITT received the International Achievement Award in 2000 from the International Business Association of Southern California (IBA).

Ms. Venieris is on the Executive Committee of the California Marine and Intermodal Transportation Advisory Council (CALMITSAC) and a member of the Goods Movement Task Force with Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG). She serves on the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Education & Training Committee, and is a Board member of International Trade Education Program ( ITEP). Venieris is the recipient of the prestigious Stanley T. Olafson Bronze Plaque 2005, was awarded the Diversity Leadership Award by WTS-LA in 2008, and received the Soroptimist’s Woman of Distinction Award in International Goodwill and Understanding in 2002. She is a graduate of Leadership Long Beach Class of 1997, and the Journal of Commerce profiled her by as one of 22 Women in US Trade and Transportation with important and influential positions in 2004.
