HIGHLIGHTS OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Appointed by Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle to Chair the State of Wisconsin Parole Commission. The Chair of the Parole Commission has statutory decision over all paroles for offenses that occurred prior to December 31, 1999.

Twenty-seven (27) years of law enforcement experience with Milwaukee Police Department. Recognized for ability to supervise and manage diverse staff within an urban environment.

Seventeen (17) years of supervisory experience with a strong background in problem solving and decision- making associated with community issues. Possess broad knowledge of employment, labor relations, and city, county, and state governmental issues impacting the quality of life in the State of Wisconsin.

Eight (8) years of middle management experience. Responsible for overseeing supervisors, office personnel, and line staff. Managed several community programs. Served as a liaison between upper management, Community Based Organizations and corporate sector.

Experienced in recruiting, developing human resources and training programs to meet the needs of a diverse population. Developed workshop for prospective applicants to the Milwaukee Police Department that assisted with improving their test taking skills. Approximately 2800 applicants have benefited from participating in the workshop to date.

Created a twenty-six (26) week Law Enforcement Career Training Program, designed to enhance opportunities and enable participants to obtain employment in law enforcement.

Assisted with the planning and development of the first Wisconsin African American Law Enforcement Education and Training Conference held in Milwaukee in August of 1991. Conference attendees included law enforcement personnel from throughout the Midwest.

Served as President of Silver Spring Neighborhood Center. Served as President of League of Martin (organization of African American Peace Officers). Received numerous honors and recognized for managing skills which resulted in the delivery of programs and community services.

Former board member for Milwaukee Area Technical College. Created and developed Family Violence Prevention program for the League of Martin, currently administered at a major W-2 agency.

Developed Summer Enrichment Academy for central city youths that is sponsored by the League of Martin. Offers 10-12 year old students an opportunity to attend six-week (6) recreational and tutorial program at no cost. Program anticipates celebrating its eleventh year of existence in 2005.

Produced and co-hosted a popular weekly live radio talk show for eight years that stimulated interactive responses from listening audience regarding community issues.
