Job Title: Depute Director Based: Parent Network Scotland

Reports to: National Director Hours: 35 hours per week plus 28 days annual leave, plus 10 public holidays Salary: £36,000 - £38,000 per annum Pension: Up to 5% employer contribution if matched by employee.

Purpose

The Depute Director is part of the Senior Leadership team and works closely with the National Director and Board of Directors covering both internal and external responsibilities, working strategically to update Parent Network Scotland’s Business Plan and ensuring implementation is achieved; this role will be imperative to the success of our strategic planning, financial management, service delivery, organisational growth, staff well-being and product/service development ensuring the overall success of our organisation.

1 Leadership

 Liaise with National Director (Director) to oversee the smooth running of Parent Network Scotland including managing the day-to-day running of services to organisations and clients in the public and private sectors;

 Oversee all financial activities: the day-to-day financial management and in conjunction with Director and Treasurer prepare budgets for presentation to the Board of Directors; ensuring income and expenditure is maintained in line with the Board of Directors’ approval; raise awareness of any potential financial risks and how these will be managed;  Take lead on human resources needs, i.e. issuing staff contracts of employment, facilitator memberships, support and supervision and implementing staff appraisal system whilst maintaining knowledge and understanding of employment legislation;

 Liaise with Director and Quality Development Manager to manage and develop staff: Administrator, Facilitators, and Volunteers to develop a stable and contented/motivated team, effectively maximise their CPD and at the same time enhance the services Parent Network Scotland can offer to the public and voluntary agencies;  Consolidate and develop current working partnerships and strategically pursue contracts for Parent Network Scotland’s courses and workshops with public, private and third sector agencies;  Identify new income generation opportunities and gaps in service for developing new products and services across Scotland;  Promote and communicate Parent Network Scotland and its strategic aims to all staff, funding organisations, key partners and stakeholders;

 Liaise with Director to produce organisational strategy and plans to meet training and development needs, and manage training delivery and follow up as necessary;

 Define the associated measurable priorities and key performance indicators;

 Develop and grow PNS membership and service footprint;

 Create and develop an innovative on line marketing and social media presence;

Deputise for director as necessary. 2. Delivery of Service

• In liaison with Quality Development Manager; • Oversea the development of new training products and services; • Ensure that all training activities and materials meet with relevant awarding bodies and internal self- evaluation requirements; • Ensure robust monitoring and evaluation processes at all levels within the organisation are in place e.g. parent participation, analysis of statistics, staff appraisals, supervision, peer support, questionnaires and surveys, registers for courses, external assessment and analysis;  Liaise with PNS Members and others to ensure the training and development provisions are up to date and meeting current and future needs;  Liaise with all stakeholders to pro-actively develop “value for money” through the business service provided;  Extend the range and coverage of specific Conferences provided for the Sector.

3. Financial Management

 Responsible for the overall financial health and continuation of PNS;

 Preparation of budgets for each activity;

 Responsible for the creation and development of Key Performance Indicators and associated Board reporting;

 Responsible for the cost effective provision and extension of specific Conferences and events;

 Work with team members to ensure the appropriate financial returns are submitted to OSCR and Companies House;

 Liaise with accountants and auditors as required;

 Ensure all financial processes comply with accounting standards;

4. Governance

 Maintain knowledge of current developments in the field of parenting, maintaining Parent Network Scotland at the forefront in terms of service delivery;  Work closely with Director to ensure that Parent Network Scotland is well administered, is legally compliant and meets its governance responsibilities;

 Implement, review and develop our visionary strategic and financial business plan in conjunction with Board of Directors and Director;

 In collaboration with the Director organise training courses for staff, volunteers, Board of Directors as part of the organisation’s strategic plan and ongoing maintenance of quality assurance;

 Review, modify and update PNS Policies and Procedures within time-line and as and when required.

5. Other

 Work closely with Director to represent PNS externally and develop partnership working;  Maintain effective relations with partners and other external agencies;  Conduct a regular review of service provisions;  Any other reasonable request made by the Board of Directors.

Person Specification Essential Desirable

Min. of 3 years’ experience of working with or in the charity, education or √ similar sector

Educated to degree level or equivalent √

Strong Leadership and people management experience √ Experience of overseeing the production of management accounts, budgets and other financial management tools √

Ability to monitor and evaluate services to ensure quality assurance and service improvement √
