A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Brent Webster for his service to the people of the Commonwealth and wishing him well in his bout with cancer. WHEREAS, Brent Webster is a dedicated civil servant and has dedicated his energies to protecting his community as the chief of the Westwood Volunteer Fire Department, director of the Ashland-Boyd County-Catlettsburg Emergency Management Agency, and a Russell police officer. He was inspired to become a firefighter by his father, Lawson Webster, who still serves as a deputy fire chief at Westwood, and by his desire to help others in need. He has served Westwood for 27 years with the volunteer fire department, and for 14 years with the sheriff's department. He is also a long-time instructor in the fire service; and WHEREAS, Brent Webster underwent successful cancer surgery about one year ago, but the disease has reoccurred, and he faces the prospect of additional surgeries. He is recognized as a hero by his community, which organized a dinner benefit to help him cover medical costs and other expenses for his continued battle with cancer and to express their appreciation of his service to their community; and WHEREAS, Brent Webster is a model citizen and civil servant who is recognized for his courage in protecting his community from fires, preserving public order, and in his battle with cancer; for his kindness and concern for those in need; for his love for and devotion to his family; and for his integrity as a community leader;
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The Senate hereby expresses its gratitude for Brent Webster's service to the people of the Commonwealth as a firefighter and a law enforcement officer and wishes him well in his renewed battle with cancer with confidence that he will do so with the same fortitude and courage with which he has battled fires and other dangers.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Brent

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate shall transmit this Resolution to Senator Walter Blevins for delivery.
