During the Trail to First Class, you will strengthen your skills, learn more about scouting, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. MR. ELOFSON, please present the badge for Second Class.

Now you are ready for the trail to Star, Life, and Eagle, and you must assume more responsibilities for your own advancement. In addition you must assume more responsibility for the welfare of the troop. Your future and the future of the troop now lie in your hands.

You are no longer a First Class Scout. By meeting your Star requirements you have left the group of those who merely receive Scouting. Tonight you will join a more significant group – those whose duty and privilege it is to give Scouting to others. When you accept your Star Scout Badge, it must be with full realization of the responsibility to give leadership, guidance, and inspiration to younger Scouts.

You have left behind what has been the receiving phase of Scouting. Before you stretches a worthier, more mature part of your Scouting experience – the giving part. The Merit Badge trail MASTER SCRIPT 3 TROOP 8 COURT OF HONOR holds much for a Scout who is earnest and courageous. If you follow this trail far enough, the highest Scouting goal will be yours. Somewhere along the trail you will find wisdom in its finest form.

MR. BECKMAN, please award the Rank of Star Scout to this individual.

BRYANT BECKMAN: The Star I now present you will always be a reminder of the star of service that will shine as a guide to lead you onward.

(Presents award). Congratulations! Please present this pin to your mother.

LIFE SCOUT CEREMONY

TONY WARD: Please be seated. MR. GREG GATES and ASHER SHAMBLEN will now present the Life Rank.

ASHER SHAMBLEN: Will ANDREW GATES, COOPER GREEN, JOHN LOUDON, HAYDEN ROONEY, NIVK RIPPE and DRAKE WIGGINS and their parents please come forward?

(Wait for Scouts and their parents, and remind them to turn and face the audience if necessary.)

ASHER SHAMBLEN: The Life Rank is one of the rarest ranks. This is your last stage before becoming an Eagle Scout. We congratulate you on this accomplishment and encourage you to reach that next step in Scouting. As a life Scout, you are not only asked to give back to your fellow Scouts, but your role in service to your community expands from one of following to leading. You have an opportunity to have your first experience in creating a way for others to give back through the design and implementation of your Eagle Scout Project. As a Life Scout, you must realize that you are now expected to be a leader and guide your fellow Scouts by truly living the Scout Law and Scout Oath. A good leadership is the foundation of any good organization. Are you ready to take on the responsibilities of a Life Scout, as you enter the final stages of your quest to become an Eagle Scout? If so, say, “I am.”

MR. GATES, please present the Rank of Life to our newest Life Scouts.

GREG GATES: (Presents badge to Scout’s mother). Please pin this badge over the heart of your scout. (Wait while mom pins badge on Scout’s shirt) Congratulations! Please also give this pin to your mother.
