Expression of Interest Community Engagement Officer - Melville High School

Expressions of interest are invited from staff interested in a career opportunity in the position of Community Engagement Officer from 24 April 2017 (with the possibility of an extension). The position with be located at:

Melville High School/Mid North Coast/Tamworth Operational Directorate Nicholson Street, South Kempsey, 2440

The Community Engagement Officer is responsible to the principal for assisting in developing effective home, school and community partnerships to enhance student achievement as well as to improve students’ transition rates to further education and employment

An expression of interest addressing the criteria below, of no more than 2 pages in length should be submitted to Jeff Hollingsworth (Principal), at [email protected] by 4pm on Thursday 6 April 2017.

Statement of duties

Establish and maintain effective partnerships between the home, school and community.

Work collaboratively with school staff to support effective communication between home, school and community.

Assist to develop and maintain links across transition points from Year 7 to Year 12, further education and employment.

Responsibility for the organisation and management of First Aid.

Develop and implement community based initiatives that provide benefits to the school and the community.

Refer family and community concerns to the principal.

Perform other related duties as required by the principal.

Selection criteria

Ability to relate well to families, students and other community members.

Understanding of the school community.

Capacity to work as part of a team.

Excellent communication, organisational and liaison skills.

Demonstrated experience in working within family and community environments.

Knowledge of and commitment to the department’s Aboriginal Education policies.

One of the referees listed must be the applicant’s current principal or supervisor for non-school-based staff. Expressions of interest must not exceed 2 A4 pages and require the signature of the applicant’s current principal or supervisor.
