MARYLAND BOARD OF ARCHITECTS MINUTES

CALL TO ORDER:

Chairman Parker called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES

Motion (I) was made by Mr. Ratcliffe seconded by Ms. Cho, and unanimously carried to approve the Minutes of June 15, 2005, meeting.

Motion (II) was made by Mr. Bowden, seconded by Mr. Ratcliffe and unanimously carried to accept the report and recommendations of the Complaint Committee.

CORRESPONDENCE

Reciprocal Continuing Education Agreement with Alabama

The Board received a letter dated July 7, 2005 from Cynthia Gainey, Executive Director of the Alabama Board for Registration of Architects. Ms Gainey asked the Board to consider a reciprocal agreement for continuing education reporting between the two states.

After a brief discussion, The Board asked it’s Counsel to inform Alabama that this Board cannot enter into this agreement as its’ requirements do not comply with Maryland’s.

NEW BUSINESS

NCARB Annual Meeting Report

Chairman Parker attended the NCARB Annual Meeting, held in June in Florida. He reported that voting on the resolutions went as the Board expected, including the dues increase proposal, which failed. The highlight for this Board was the appointment of Andrew Prescott, past Board member as Director of Region II Chairman Parker was elected Secretary for the region.

Chairman Parker also informed the Board that at the Region II meeting to be held in September, in the DC area, a “new member” orientation would be conducted. He encourages any interested member to attend. A full overview of the organization will be covered. As always, the Chairman encourages participation in NCARB committees.

CEU Review Committee Appointment

Mr. Parker volunteered to fill this vacancy left by Mr. Prescott. He will join Gary Bowden in the review and approval process for Continuing Education providers. Maryland Board of Architects July 27, 2005 Page 4

Leadership Recognition

Chairman Parker would like to recognize the outstanding leadership and dedication to the state by Mr. Daniel Bennett, Jr., previous chairman of this Board. The chairman asked that Mr. Bennett be invited to the next meeting to receive the recognition he deserves.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, motion (III) was made by Mr. Ratcliffe, seconded by Mr. Torrico and unanimously carried to adjourn the meeting at 10:30 a.m.
