2013 Fall Semester Exam Schedule

School will dismiss at noon on December 17th, 18th, and 19TH. Buses will run at noon from the bus lane on December 17th, 18th, and 19TH. On these early dismissal days Sack lunches will be available in the cafeteria at 12:00 as soon as the bell rings.

TOPIC: Cafeteria Meals Starting this week, students and staff will not be allowed to charge meals through the remainder of this semester. Please make sure all accounts are paid in full by December 16, 2013. Thank you.

TOPIC: Electronic Cigarettes Students, be aware that electronic cigarettes are not allowed at school and are treated by administration the same as a cigarette. Staff is directed to confiscate these if they are seen and write a referral for any student in possession of or using these types of devices.

TOPIC: Jazz Ensemble Candy-Gram Fundraiser The East View Patriot Jazz Ensemble will be selling Candy-Grams during all lunches this week (Dec. 3rd-Dec.6th). Candy- grams will cost $2 for specialty candy canes, $1 for regular candy canes, and small candy canes will be 4 for $1. Students who purchase candy-grams will need to know AT LEAST the first and last name of the recipient and his or her grade. Candy- grams will be sent with a candy cane, a place for a name, and a short message to the recipient and will be delivered to the recipient’s 2nd period teacher. All students are encouraged to purchase as many Candy-grams as they’d like!

TOPIC: Picture Retake Day Picture retakes will be taken in the cafeteria during all lunches on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Please pick up an order form at the diamond. This is pre-pay only! Anyone who wants to purchase a picture package needs to bring a completed form plus payment to the photographer on that day.

TOPIC: Class Rings Attention Seniors – Class rings will be delivered on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. You must have your BALANCE DUE in order to pick up your ring. Any Junior or Senior who has not yet ordered their ring may do so on Wed., December 11th from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Packets are available in the front office. A down payment is required.

TOPIC: Toys for Tots Come and support our EVHS Auto tech with the toy for tots for blue Santa come and donate a toy and help make a difference in your community.

TOPIC: Holiday Band Concert The East View Bands and Winter Guard will hold their annual Holiday Band Concert on Monday, December 9th! Join us at the GISD PAC at 7pm for a FREE event of holiday music and celebration! See you there!

TOPIC: Teen First Friday Teen First Friday is this Friday from 7-9pm at the Teen Center! It’s a free black light party. Bring your friends and wear white (or neon!) and join the party! The event is free for ages 12-17 and food and drinks will be served.

TOPIC: EVHS GSA A reminder for the EVHS GSA: Please bring your donations for our holiday gift card drive to room 508 today through next Tuesday, Dec. 11.

TOPIC: Senior Service Program Seniors who are participating in the senior service program, remember, all of your hours must be complete and submitted to Mrs. Scholtz or Mrs. Ray on the English hall prior to spring break! You can get evaluation forms on the school’s website or on Mrs. Ray’s or Mrs. Scholtz’s website. Hours submitted after spring break will not be considered for service recognition.

TOPIC: EVHS Bowling EVHS Bowling Team is holding a fundraiser day at Schlotzsky’s in Georgetown all day today, Thursday, Dec 5. Open to close every sandwich counts! Enjoy a sandwich and a break from cooking!!!

TOPIC: Health Science There will be a mandatory student/parent meeting on Monday, Dec 9 at 6:00pm in the EVHS lecture hall for all students who are interested in taking a Practicum 1 or Practicum 2 Health Science class next school year. Information on Practicum 1 and Practicum 2 EMT and Pharmacy technician will be given. Applications will also be available. If you are unable to make this meeting, there will be one at GHS on Dec. 12 at 6:00pm that will cover the same information. If you have any questions please come see Mrs. Prewit in room 338 or Mrs. Killen in room 321.

TOPIC: Scholarships & Awards  Just a reminder that the following deadlines are quickly approaching so hurry up and get those applications turned in:  Lions Club postmarked by Dec. 18th / 2013  Rotary Club District 5870 no later than Dec. 20th /2013  Texas Society of Professional Engineers Jan. 10th /2014  Rotary Club District 5870 is seeking scholarship applications from graduating seniors to award a One-year Vocational Scholarship totaling $5,000. The Vocational covers a wide range of fields of study so come by the counselor’s office and see Mrs. Lewis for an application. The deadline is December 20, 2013 so act fast.  Rotary District 5870 is sponsoring RYLA in the Rough, a teen residential leadership camp, this summer. RYLA stands for Rotary Youth Leadership Award. All current 10th and 11th graders are eligible to apply for the award. The local Rotary club pays all fees and provides transportation. See Mrs. Lewis in the counselor’s office for more details and application. Deadline is January 31st/2014.  The Hewlett Family Scholarship applications are available for pick up in the Counselors Office. Deadline to turn in your application is March 1st.  The Georgetown, Texas Area Car Club (GTACC) provides scholarships to deserving GISD seniors who have successfully completed the Automotive Technology Program and have committed to continuing their formal education after graduation. To apply, see Mrs. Lewis in the Counselors Office. The deadline is March 28th, 2014.  The Georgetown ISD Council of PTAs Scholarship is offering two $500 scholarships to both high schools. Applicants must be a high school senior eligible for graduation and must be a member of the PTSA. You may join PTSA for $6.00. The envelope for joining is attached to the application located in the Counselors Office. See Mrs. Lewis for details and to pick up an application. The application and PTSA fee must be returned to Mrs. Lewis by February 28th.  The U of H Leaders and Achievers Scholarship application is available in the counselor’s office for any Senior planning to attend the University of Houston in the fall. See Mrs. Lewis for details and application. Deadline is January 24th/2014.
